- Exhibition "Migration Chronicles" and Forum "Era of Migration" Operated Concurrently to Spread the Value of Cultural Diversity

‘2026 Cultural Diversity Festival’ Concluded Successfully… Creating a Space for Generations and Cultures to Harmonize Together through Performances, Experiences, and Play Around the Chungbuk Provincial Government Complex

The Chungbuk Cultural Foundation (CEO Kim Kyung-shik) announced that the “2026 Cultural Diversity Hub City Chungbuk Festival (COLORFUL UNIVERSE: A Colorful World),” held on Saturday, October 31 around the Chungbuk Provincial Government complex, concluded with great success, drawing approximately 2,100 provincial residents.

Designed to spread the value of cultural diversity—where migrants with diverse cultural backgrounds and local residents come together to understand and respect each other’s cultures—this festival was linked with the Chungbuk culture and arts education support projects sponsored by Chungchungbuk-do and the Chungbuk Cultural Foundation. Cultural and artistic organizations active throughout the province participated, presenting a rich array of attractions and activities ranging from world culture and food experiences to diverse cultural and arts programs, performances, and play areas.

At the festival site, a total of 13 cultural and food experience booths introducing cultures from around the world, 12 diverse culture and arts experience programs, 6 performances across various fields, and play zones were operated. The event was structured so visitors could directly experience cultures and foods from different countries while enjoying diverse artistic activities and performances, providing a rich visual and experiential feast.

In particular, the culture and arts experience programs offered participants a time to share new experiences through various artistic activities and play, naturally encountering different thoughts and forms of expression to deeply experience the meaning of cultural diversity.

This festival gained deeper significance as it went beyond simply introducing cultural diversity, serving as a venue where people from different backgrounds and generations could participate and interact together through culture and arts.

Meanwhile, exhibitions and forums were also operated concurrently to share the value of cultural diversity in greater depth. Supported by Chungchungbuk-do and the Chungbuk Cultural Foundation, the exhibition "Migration Chronicles," held at the Next Art Center from October 26 to November 1, shed light on the lives and stories of migrant-background women through the art activities and publishing project of Radosti children and artists, delivering empathy and resonance to visitors.

Subsequently, on October 30, a cultural diversity forum under the theme "Era of Migration" was held at the same venue, providing an opportunity to share diverse perspectives on migration and cultural diversity, and to jointly contemplate and share the value of cultural diversity within the local community.

As such, this event went beyond festival experiences and exchanges, broadly highlighting the meaning of cultural diversity through exhibitions and forums. It holds great significance in that it provided an opportunity for provincial residents to directly experience and understand different lives and cultures, while sharing the value of cultural diversity and spreading it throughout the local community.

Chungbuk Cultural Foundation CEO Kim Kyung-shik stated, “I hope this festival, exhibition, and forum served as a time for residents to experience diverse cultures, respect each other’s differences within culture and arts, and harmonize together. We will continue to create opportunities for the value of cultural diversity to spread into daily life within the local community, allowing anyone to communicate and interact through culture and arts.”

Meanwhile, the Chungbuk Cultural Foundation was selected for the ‘2026 Cultural Diversity Hub City’ project promoted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Arts & Culture Education Service this year, carrying out initiatives to spread the value of cultural diversity alongside various cultural agents in the region.
