Uruguayan Widow Accuses Business Partner of $27,000 Check Theft Amidst Company Scandal

Montevideo, Uruguay – Daniela Cabral, the widow of Gustavo Basso, has filed a police report against Ana Iewdiukow, the wife of Pablo Carrasco, alleging the theft of a $27,000 check. 1  The check was made out to Conexión Ganadera, a livestock company co-owned by the two couples, which is currently undergoing bankruptcy proceedings.

According to reports from El Observador, the check was stored in a drawer at the company's office and was discovered missing by employees last week. Further investigation revealed that a $7,000 deposit had been made into an account by Iewdiukow, using company funds. This prompted Cabral to file a formal complaint with the police.

Background of Conexión Ganadera's Financial Troubles

Conexión Ganadera has been facing severe financial difficulties, leading to its current bankruptcy status. The company's operations have been under scrutiny, and the alleged check theft has further complicated matters. Alfredo Ciavattone has been appointed as the trustee to manage the company during the legal proceedings.

Ciavattone stated that approximately $200,000 has been generated from livestock sales thus far. However, he emphasized that continued sales will be necessary to cover the company's operational costs. The financial irregularities and the ongoing investigation have cast a shadow over the company's future.

Investigation into Gustavo Basso's Death

The circumstances surrounding the death of Gustavo Basso, Cabral's husband, remain under investigation. In recent developments, the court has ordered DNA samples to be taken from one of Basso's daughters. These samples will be compared with biological material collected from the scene of his death. Basso's body was cremated, making traditional forensic analysis impossible, hence the need for DNA testing.

"Black Widows" Gang Targets Uruguayan Tourists in Buenos Aires

In a separate incident, three Uruguayan tourists were reportedly drugged and robbed by a gang known as the "Black Widows" in Buenos Aires. This incident has raised concerns about the safety of Uruguayan citizens traveling to the neighboring country.

The alleged theft by Ana Iewdiukow and the ongoing investigation into Gustavo Basso's death have added layers of complexity to the Conexión Ganadera scandal. The coming weeks are expected to bring further developments as the authorities delve deeper into these interconnected cases.
