The Embassy of Pakistan in Seoul recently hosted a commemorative event at its premises in Gangnam-gu to celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan. The event featured a photo exhibition showcasing Jinnah’s achievements, alongside an English speech competition held under the theme: "The Power of Three Words: Rewriting Our Future through Unity, Faith, and Discipline."
Song Jong-hwan, former Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Pakistan, was invited as the Guest of Honor to grace the occasion. Former Ambassador Song delivered a congratulatory address for the speech competition, served as a judge, and presented awards to the three top-performing students, encouraging the next generation.
Following the ceremony, Syed Moazzam H. Shah, Ambassador of Pakistan to the Republic of Korea, presented a plaque of appreciation to former Ambassador Song in recognition of his contributions to the advancement of bilateral relations between the two nations. After the ceremony, the two held a substantive discussion in the Ambassador's office regarding concrete measures to further enhance Korea-Pakistan relations.
During the meeting, the importance of fostering exchange and cooperation among former Korean ambassadors who served in Islamabad was highlighted. Ambassador Syed Moazzam H. Shah suggested organizing a gathering for the former ambassadors, as he had not yet had the opportunity to meet them since his appointment nearly a year ago. In response, former Ambassador Song facilitated this initiative by calling the first Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Pakistan, Oh Jay-hee, to exchange greetings and discuss the proposal. Both parties agreed to arrange a meaningful gathering for the former ambassadors between late July and August.
Meanwhile, former Ambassador Song concluded his congratulatory speech by mentioning Pakistan's recent diplomatic achievements, which garnered an enthusiastic response from the attendees. Former Ambassador Song shared the news that Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who has persistently mediated efforts to end the war between the United States and Iran, is being considered as a candidate for this year's Nobel Peace Prize. The attendees expressed great joy and applause at the news.

As-salamu alaykum and good afternoon.
It is a great honor and pleasure for me to join you today at this meaningful event commemorating the 150th Birth Anniversary of the Founder of Pakistan, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
I would like to express my sincere appreciation to the Embassy of Pakistan in Seoul for organizing this excellent photo exhibition and speech competition in tribute to one of the greatest leaders in modern history.
Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah was a man of extraordinary vision, courage, and determination. Through his leadership, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to constitutional principles and national unity, he laid the foundation of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. Even today, his ideals continue to inspire not only the people of Pakistan but also many friends of Pakistan around the world.
During my service as Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Pakistan from 2013 to 2016, I had the privilege of witnessing the warmth, hospitality, resilience, and strong spirit of the Pakistani people. Through those valuable experiences, I came to understand more deeply how profoundly Quaid-e-Azam’s leadership and philosophy remain embedded in Pakistan’s national identity and aspirations for the future.
Today’s event is especially meaningful because it brings together distinguished guests, diplomats, scholars, and young participants. The speech competition, in particular, offers younger generations an important opportunity to reflect upon the life and legacy of Quaid-e-Azam and to appreciate the values of leadership, sacrifice, national unity, and international friendship.
I also firmly believe that cultural and educational exchanges such as today’s event play an important role in further strengthening the longstanding friendship and cooperation between the Republic of Korea and Pakistan. Over the years, our two countries have continued to expand cooperation in trade, education, development assistance, and people-to-people exchanges.
In recent months, Pakistan has once again demonstrated its constructive role in international diplomacy. During my service as Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Pakistan, I had several opportunities to discuss ways to further strengthen Korea–Pakistan relations with H.E. Shehbaz Sharif when he was serving as Chief Minister of Punjab. Through those meetings, I was deeply impressed by his administrative capability, strong leadership, and unwavering dedication to the development of Pakistan. More recently, his sustained dialogue and mediation efforts have contributed significantly to bringing the United States and Iran toward a peaceful resolution and the cessation of military operations.
I would also like to take this opportunity to pay high tribute to the remarkable mediation efforts of H.E. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan. Through his patient and determined diplomacy, the 108-day war between the United States and Iran has come to an end, bringing renewed hope for peace and stability in the Middle East. This is not only a significant diplomatic achievement for Pakistan but also a meaningful contribution to international peace and security. In my humble view, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s statesmanship and dedication to peace deserve serious consideration for this year’s Nobel Peace Prize.
As Honorary President of the Pakistan Sustainable Development Institute (PSDI) and Chair of the Advisory Committee of the Pakistan Business Association in Korea, I will continue to do my humble part to further promote mutual understanding, friendship, and cooperation between our two countries.
Once again, I extend my heartfelt congratulations on the 150th Birth Anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and wish every success to today’s memorable event.

저는 또한 오늘과 같은 문화·교육 교류 행사가 대한민국과 파키스탄 간의 오랜 우호와 협력을 더욱 강화하는 데 중요한 역할을 한다고 굳게 믿습니다. 양국은 지난 수십 년 동안 무역, 교육, 개발협력, 그리고 인적 교류 등 다양한 분야에서 협력을 지속적으로 확대해 왔습니다.
최근 파키스탄은 국제사회에서 건설적이고 책임 있는 외교국가로서의 역할을 다시 한번 보여주었습니다. 저는 2013년부터 2016년까지 대한민국의 주파키스탄 대사로 재임하는 동안 당시 펀자브주 총리였던 셰바즈 샤리프 현 총리와 한-파키스탄 관계 발전 방안에 대하여 여러 차례 협의할 기회를 가졌습니다. 그 과정에서 저는 그의 뛰어난 행정 능력과 강한 리더십, 그리고 파키스탄 발전에 대한 헌신을 깊이 인상적으로 지켜보았습니다. 최근 셰바즈 샤리프 총리가 주도한 끈질긴 대화와 중재 노력은 미국과 이란이 평화적 해결의 길을 모색하고 군사행동 중단을 선언하는 데 중요한 기여를 하였습니다.
