6223 Future Forum to host a lecture titled ‘Asking Sejong about Hangeul’ at Ulsan Museum on the 27th

Ulsan Metropolitan City is set to host a meaningful event where citizens can explore the future value of Hangeul, the root of our culture, while establishing the city’s identity as a "Hangeul City." The 6223 Future Forum (Secretary-General Oh Byeong-guk) announced that it will hold a special lecture featuring acclaimed novelist Kim Jin-myung on Saturday, June 27, at 2:00 PM in the auditorium of the Ulsan Museum. This lecture was organized to enhance Ulsan's status as a declared "Hangeul City" and to foster a deeper understanding and cultural pride in Hangeul among citizens. The theme, "Asking Sejong about Hangeul," will re-examine the governing philosophy of King Sejong the Great and the creative value of the creation of Hangeul from a modern perspective. The guest speaker, Kim Jin-myung, is a bestselling author known for his meticulous research and compelling narratives covering major events in modern Korean history and national issues, with works such as The Mugunghwa Flower Has Bloomed and The Crown Prince Mystery. His recent novel, The Country of Sejong, portrays the agony and philosophy of King Sejong at the time of Hangeul's creation, earning acclaim for presenting a cultural and spiritual vision for today’s Republic of Korea. The 6223 Future Forum emphasized that this lecture will be more than just a session to share literary appreciation; it will serve as an opportunity to reflect on the meaning of Ulsan’s leap toward becoming a hub of Hangeul culture. A forum official stated, "It will be a precious time for Ulsan citizens to confirm the roots of our culture through Hangeul, which embodies the spirit of King Sejong, and to contemplate Hangeul as a cultural asset to pass on to future generations. We hope it will become a pivotal driving force for Ulsan to establish itself as a sophisticated cultural city." The 6223 Future Forum, the host of the event, is a leading local civic organization that seeks progressive future visions for Ulsan and creates an open platform for dialogue between experts and citizens from various fields. The forum conducts diverse activities to address regional economic, cultural, and social issues, encouraging citizen participation. The lecture is open to all Ulsan citizens. For further details, please contact the 6223 Future Forum Secretariat (Secretary-General Oh Byeong-guk, 010-8519-2477).
