Cheonan Unveils Ambitious Plan to Generate 30,000 Jobs in 2025

CHEONAN, SOUTH KOREA – Cheonan City has announced a comprehensive strategy aimed at generating 30,000 new employment opportunities this year, with a target employment rate of 68.7% for individuals aged 15 to 64. The ambitious goal is outlined in the newly established and publicized '2025 Cheonan City Annual Detailed Plan for Job Creation Measures,' a key component of Mayor Park Sang-don's broader job creation agenda for his term.

The city's plan is structured around five core strategies encompassing 13 practical tasks and a total of 108 individual projects. These strategies include fostering private sector-led job growth, promoting innovative employment avenues, supporting citizen-driven job initiatives, implementing tailored job programs for specific demographic groups, and cultivating win-win employment scenarios.

A significant focus of the plan involves bolstering Cheonan's economic foundation through industrial transformation and the nurturing of future-oriented industries. Key initiatives in this area include the development of a hub-type smart city, providing support for youth employment within innovative companies geared towards sustainable growth, and establishing a cutting-edge platform for next-generation display innovation processes.

To create a more conducive environment for businesses, Cheonan City is moving forward with the development of 17 new industrial complexes. This infrastructure expansion is intended to foster industrial clusters, thereby driving technological innovation and enhancing overall competitiveness. Parallel efforts will concentrate on attracting private investment and implementing effective business recruitment strategies to accelerate job creation across various sectors.

Recognizing the importance of adapting to demographic shifts, the city plans to enhance collaboration between its population policies and job creation initiatives. Furthermore, Cheonan will implement customized employment programs designed to meet the specific needs of diverse population segments, including youth, women, and senior citizens. The operation of a robust job governance system will ensure the effectiveness and relevance of these policies.

Committed to improving the quality of employment and protecting workers' rights, Cheonan City will also focus on initiatives such as establishing and operating laundry facilities for workers' uniforms, running a support center for non-regular workers, actively supporting the local labor-management-government council, and providing special loan guarantees for small business owners.

In a move to strengthen its job support infrastructure, Cheonan City expanded and relocated its Job Support Center last year. This enhanced facility will provide more tailored employment assistance to both job seekers and hiring companies. The center will also host regular interview sessions and small-scale recruitment events, offering a wider range of job support services to the community.

To ensure the effective implementation and continuous improvement of its job creation strategy, Cheonan City will establish the 'Cheonan Regional Job Promotion Group.' This group will be responsible for monitoring the progress of key initiatives and will actively seek input from relevant organizations and job market experts to refine and advance the city's employment policies.

Mayor Park Sang-don emphasized the city's commitment to creating "sustainable, high-quality jobs that citizens can feel," underscoring the goal of revitalizing the local economy and enhancing the overall quality of life for Cheonan residents.
