SEOUL — Jensen Huang, the Chief Executive Officer of Nvidia, is scheduled to arrive in South Korea on the afternoon of June 5 to kick off a high-profile visit aimed at deepening technological alliances. This marks his return to the country after approximately seven months, following his last visit for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) CEO Summit in late October last year.
According to industry sources on June 4, Huang will land at Gimpo International Airport at around 1:00 PM. Upon his arrival, the tech leader is expected to briefly share his thoughts and goals for the visit with reporters at the airport terminal.
A Casual Yet Crucial Dinner: 'Sam-So'
Following his arrival, Huang's official itinerary will begin with a highly anticipated dinner meeting with the heads of South Korea’s top conglomerates. Dubbed the "Sam-So" meeting, the dinner will feature a casual menu of pork belly (samgyeopsal) and Korean distilled spirits (soju).
While the exact location remains unconfirmed, trendy and historic Seoul neighborhoods such as Seongsu-dong, Hongdae, and Euljiro are currently being floated as potential venues. The guest list reflects the critical nature of the gathering, with major business leaders set to attend, including:
Chey Tae-won, Chairman of SK Group
Euisun Chung, Executive Chair of Hyundai Motor Group
Koo Kwang-mo, Chairman of LG Group
Lee Hae-jin, Global Investment Officer of Naver
Focusing on 'Physical AI' and Broader Engagements
The primary agenda for Huang’s visit is expected to center on strengthening partnerships in "Physical AI"—an emerging field that integrates artificial intelligence with physical systems like robotics and automated manufacturing. Given South Korea's prowess in hardware, automotive technology, and semiconductor manufacturing, the discussions are viewed as a strategic move to build a robust AI ecosystem.
In addition to meeting established tech tycoons, Huang plans to expand his network within the broader Korean innovation ecosystem. He is scheduled to meet with local AI and robotics startups, as well as engage with academic institutions, including Seoul National University.
To closer connect with the Korean public, Huang’s itinerary reportedly includes unconventional cultural and promotional activities, such as throwing the ceremonial first pitch at a professional baseball game and appearing on local television broadcasts.
