Banco Basa has solidified its commitment to the sustainable development of Paraguay's agricultural sector by achieving the distinction of being the first in the country to execute loans through the 'Procampo Verde' program, an initiative driven by the Development Finance Agency (AFD, Agencia Financiera de Desarrollo).

Procampo Verde is an innovative financial support tool developed by the AFD to encourage environmentally responsible and climate-resilient sustainable agricultural practices. The program targets agricultural producers, cooperatives, and companies implementing clean technologies, sustainable production systems, and environmental adaptation and mitigation measures.

The Procampo Verde loans offered by Banco Basa are considered a significant step towards the green transition of Paraguayan agriculture. These loans come with attractive conditions such as preferential interest rates, long-term repayment terms, and grace periods, along with technical advice to ensure the successful implementation of funded projects.

Joel López, Head of Agriculture and Livestock at Banco Basa, stated, "We are very proud to be the first to offer this key tool for the future of Paraguayan agriculture. At Banco Basa, we believe that productive development and environmental protection can and must go hand in hand."

This achievement reaffirms Banco Basa's leading position in innovative financial solutions and the bank's proactive role in promoting a more inclusive and sustainable agricultural model. Detailed information on Procampo Verde loans can be obtained at any Banco Basa branch or through the official website (www.bancobasa.com.py).

Importance and Expected Effects of the Procampo Verde Program

The Procampo Verde program is expected to play a crucial role in enhancing the sustainability of Paraguay's agricultural sector and strengthening environmental responsibility. The program can generate the following positive effects:

Diffusion of Sustainable Agricultural Practices: Encouraging the adoption of environmentally friendly technologies, improved soil and water resource management, and biodiversity conservation, thereby contributing to long-term agricultural productivity and environmental protection.
Strengthening Climate Change Resilience: Enhancing the agricultural sector's resilience to extreme weather events and supporting climate change mitigation efforts such as reducing greenhouse gas emissions and increasing carbon sequestration.
Enhancing Agricultural Competitiveness: Increasing the added value of agricultural products produced through sustainable methods and contributing to enhanced competitiveness in international markets.
Revitalizing the Rural Economy: Promoting the development of new green agricultural technologies and industries, thereby contributing to job creation and economic revitalization in rural areas.
Expanding Access to Finance: Providing favorable financing conditions for agricultural producers, cooperatives, and companies pursuing sustainable agricultural projects, thereby increasing access to finance and promoting investment.
Efforts for the Sustainable Development of Paraguayan Agriculture

Agriculture plays a vital role in Paraguay's national economy, and the transition to sustainable agriculture is essential for long-term economic growth and environmental conservation. Banco Basa's launch of Procampo Verde loans is expected to be a significant driving force in these transition efforts. It is necessary for more financial institutions, the government, and agricultural organizations to collaborate in expanding various policies and support programs for the sustainable development of Paraguayan agriculture.
