Cairo, Egypt - Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly held a meeting with investors on Thursday to discuss the redevelopment of Downtown Cairo, focusing on ambitious plans to convert former government ministries into world-class hotels.

The meeting, attended by Tourism and Antiquities Minister Sherif Fathy and Cairo Governor Ibrahim Saber, outlined a vision to revitalize the area following the relocation of government offices to the New Administrative Capital (NAC).

Key Redevelopment Plans:

Hotel Conversion: The vacated government buildings will be transformed into luxury hotels, offering a unique blend of historical architecture and modern amenities. The complex will be divided into six distinct zones, each showcasing a unique architectural style.

Pedestrianization: Key streets in Downtown Cairo will be pedestrianized, creating a more pedestrian-friendly and appealing environment for tourists and residents.
Heritage Preservation: Existing heritage buildings will be meticulously restored and integrated into the new developments, preserving their architectural value while adding modern facilities.

Green Spaces and Amenities: The project aims to create over 15,000 square meters of new green spaces, along with 2,600 new hotel rooms and 1,200 serviced apartments.
Maspero Triangle Development:

The meeting also reviewed the progress of the Nile Towers project in the Maspero Triangle. This ambitious development comprises three residential towers offering 774 residential units, including two luxury villas atop each.

Khedival Cairo Development Project:

Governor Saber highlighted the latest developments in the Khedival Cairo Development Project, a crucial initiative to protect and revitalize Cairo's historical heritage. This project focuses on restoring iconic buildings and public spaces, ensuring Downtown Cairo retains its architectural identity while functioning as a vibrant urban center.

Investor Perspectives:

Investors emphasized the need for a comprehensive master plan to ensure cohesive development across the entire area. They also stressed the importance of establishing a distinct identity for Downtown Cairo that reflects the charm of historic Cairo and attracts both local and international visitors.

Significance:

The redevelopment of Downtown Cairo represents a significant step in Egypt's broader efforts to enhance its urban landscapes, boost tourism, and preserve its rich cultural heritage. By transforming underutilized government buildings into luxurious hotels and revitalizing the area's historic core, Egypt aims to create a world-class tourist destination that celebrates its past while embracing the future.
