GRAND RAPIDS, MI – In a strategic move to solidify its presence in the global automation market, BRILS, a leading South Korean robotics firm, announced on April 8, 2026, the establishment of its U.S. subsidiary, BRILS USA LLC. Located in Kentwood, Michigan—near the industrial hub of Grand Rapids—the new facility spans approximately 6,434 square meters (approx. 70,000 sq. ft.) and serves as a vital bridgehead for the company’s expansion into the North American market.

A Strategic Foothold in the "Manufacturing Innovation Hub"
The selection of Grand Rapids is no coincidence. As Michigan’s second-largest city after Detroit, it is widely recognized as a center for manufacturing innovation. The region boasts a dense concentration of automotive giants and vendors, including 61 of the top 100 automotive parts suppliers in the state.

BRILS plans to leverage this location to address the most pressing challenges currently facing North American manufacturers:

Labor Shortages: Automating repetitive tasks to compensate for the shrinking workforce.
Productivity Stagnation: Enhancing output through modular robotic integration.
Supply Chain Realignment: Providing localized support to shorten lead times and improve reliability.

Proven Track Record and Global Momentum
BRILS has already demonstrated its competitive edge by securing high-profile projects from global industry leaders, including Hyundai Motor Company, Hyundai Transys, Brose, Means, Hanse Mobility, and Nifco. The company’s growth trajectory is steep; last year, exports accounted for 37% of its total revenue, with successful operations spanning the U.S., Mexico, the Czech Republic, and India.

The establishment of the Michigan corporate body is expected to accelerate this momentum, particularly in high-growth sectors such as secondary batteries (EV batteries), semiconductors, and advanced displays.

Expanding Beyond Automotive: The Healthcare Frontier
While automotive remains a core pillar, BRILS is rapidly diversifying its portfolio. In November last year, the company successfully secured a project with AirLife, a global leader in medical device consumables headquartered in Grand Rapids.

Project Highlight: BRILS is supplying an automated packaging system for nasal cannulas and oxygen delivery tubes. This solution will be prioritized at AirLife’s Mexico facility as part of a broader initiative to implement automation across the company's global operations.

Vision for the Future
Jeon Jin, CEO of BRILS, emphasized that the U.S. subsidiary is more than just a local office—it is a statement of intent.

"BRILS USA LLC represents our firm commitment to leaping forward as a global leader in modular robotics solutions," said Jeon. "Through this local hub, we will not only dominate the North American automotive and secondary battery sectors but also actively secure additional orders from global healthcare and high-tech manufacturing firms."

As industries worldwide pivot toward "smart factories," BRILS's entry into the heart of the American Midwest signals a significant shift in the competitive landscape of the robotics and automation industry.
