“Visiting Masterclass” held on January 4 (Wed) at Chuncheon Bongui High School, meeting student majors

The Daegwallyeong Music Festival Office of the Gangwon Culture Foundation (CEO Hyun-sang Shin) invited double bassist Sojung Kim as an instructor to hold the “Visiting Masterclass” at Chuncheon Bongui High School on the 4th (Wed).

The “Visiting Masterclass,” a year-round educational program of the Daegwallyeong Academy, serves as a platform for exchange where local music talents can directly learn from top-tier musicians and educators across various fields to cultivate their capabilities.

Double bassist Sojung Kim graduated from Seoul National University with a Bachelor's degree and the Colburn School with a Professional Studies Certificate (PSC), and is currently active as the Assistant Principal Double Bass of the San Francisco Ballet Orchestra.

In this Visiting Masterclass, student Si-young Choi (3rd year at Bongui High School) and others will participate. Under the guidance of a professional performer, they are expected to review their performance skills, receive advice on musical expression and interpretation, and help materialize their future musical activities and career paths.

Shin Hyun-sang, CEO of the Gangwon Culture Foundation, stated, “I hope this masterclass will be a time for local music talents to directly communicate with professional performers, expand their musical capabilities, and concretely map out their career paths,” adding, “We will continue to provide various educational opportunities so that young people in the province can experience high-level music education and nurture their dreams.”
