Anyang, South Korea – Anyang City has announced ambitious plans to redevelop the area surrounding Gwanak Boulevard, transforming it into a dynamic new business district. The project, which was detailed in a recent final report, aims to revitalize the region and establish it as a center for knowledge-based industries.
Covering a total area of 310,000 square meters, the development will be carried out through a community-driven approach, allowing residents to have a say in the planning process. The city has envisioned a vibrant business district that will be known as "Gwanak Inno-LINE," symbolizing innovation and progress.
To achieve this vision, the city has set forth four key goals:
Lifestyle Innovation: Creating new urban parks and integrated public facilities to enhance residents' quality of life.
Functional Innovation: Developing a mixed-use district that seamlessly blends residential, commercial, and cultural spaces.
Transportation Innovation: Building a smart, technologically advanced transportation network.
Spatial Innovation: Implementing a pre-negotiation system to ensure that development plans align with the city's long-term goals and community needs.
The pre-negotiation system will allow the city, private sector, and experts to collaborate on development plans, resulting in more equitable outcomes. By allowing for changes in land use designations, the city aims to attract private investment and stimulate economic growth.
Anyang City plans to finalize the basic plan for the project in January and establish guidelines for the pre-negotiation process in the first half of next year. The city will then designate a pilot area in the second half of the year to involve residents in the planning process.
Mayor Daeho Choi expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating, "This project marks the first step in transforming Gwanak Boulevard into Anyang's answer to the Teheran Valley. We believe that this development will significantly contribute to our city's economic growth and enhance its overall image. We are committed to working closely with our residents to create a more attractive and vibrant community."
