Paraguay has established a foothold for entering the African market. Ramiro Maluff, President of the Paraguayan Meat Production and Export Association (APPEC), announced that a principal agreement has been reached with a Moroccan importer to export 2,500 heads of cattle. This is considered a groundbreaking achievement for the Paraguayan livestock industry.
The initial shipment is expected to consist of 1,500 heads of cattle weighing 200-300kg each, but the final quantity may be adjusted based on the approval of the Moroccan partner. The Paraguayan livestock industry aims to successfully target the African market by supplying high-quality, safe livestock.
To achieve this, Paraguayan livestock authorities will work closely with the National Quality and Animal Health Service (SENACSA) to ensure strict quarantine procedures are followed. SENACSA plans to cooperate with Moroccan veterinary authorities to comply with all quarantine protocols and regulations, and to eliminate any regulatory obstacles that may arise during the inspection and certification process.
This export contract signifies the diversification of the Paraguayan livestock industry's market, which has previously focused on Asian and South American markets. Paraguay has been able to successfully secure this contract based on its excellent sanitary management system and high production standards. President Maluff expects that this contract will serve as an important stepping stone for Morocco to open up new markets and grow the Paraguayan livestock industry.
Starting with this export, Paraguay plans to build a long-term and stable trade relationship with Morocco, and further strengthen its position in the African market through additional livestock exports in the future.
