SINGAPORE – Global online fashion retailer Shein has announced a significant collaboration with the Singapore Fashion Council (SFC) to launch the “Every Body Matters” Inclusive Design Fashion Competition. This worldwide initiative aims to revolutionize the fashion industry by challenging traditional beauty standards and promoting designs that cater to the diverse needs and abilities of all individuals.

The competition, officially announced today, is open to aspiring and established fashion designers globally. It calls upon participants to create innovative and stylish garments and accessories that embrace inclusivity, considering factors such as body shape, size, physical disabilities, and other diverse needs.

Leonard Lin, President of Shein EMEA, Global Head of Public Affairs, and General Manager for Singapore, emphasized the company's commitment to inclusivity. "At Shein, our core belief is that fashion should be accessible to everyone. We are thrilled to partner with the Singapore Fashion Council, a like-minded organization, to cultivate a fashion landscape that truly celebrates diversity in all its forms," said Lin. "The 'Every Body Matters' competition perfectly embodies our vision, and we are proud to empower the next generation of designers who will champion a more inclusive future for the fashion world."

The Singapore Fashion Council echoed this sentiment, highlighting the importance of this initiative for the industry. "The SFC is dedicated to fostering innovation and promoting a more equitable and representative fashion ecosystem," stated [Insert Name and Title of SFC Spokesperson if available, otherwise use a general description like "a representative from the Singapore Fashion Council"]. "This partnership with Shein on the 'Every Body Matters' competition provides a crucial platform to encourage designers to think beyond conventional norms and create fashion that truly serves everyone."

The “Every Body Matters” competition will offer a comprehensive program designed to nurture and elevate emerging design talent. The initiative comprises eight key components, which are expected to include:

Mentorship Programs: Providing guidance from established industry professionals in inclusive design.
Workshops and Training: Offering specialized sessions on inclusive design principles, accessible materials, and adaptive fashion techniques.
Design Challenges: Engaging participants in practical exercises to develop their inclusive design skills.
Networking Opportunities: Connecting designers with industry leaders, manufacturers, and potential collaborators.
Showcase Events: Providing platforms for participants to present their inclusive designs to a wider audience.
Financial Support and Prizes: Offering grants, resources, and awards to help designers bring their inclusive visions to life.
Potential Production and Retail Opportunities: Exploring possibilities for winning designs to be produced and potentially featured on Shein's global platform.
Industry Recognition: Elevating the profiles of participating designers within the fashion community.

Further details regarding the competition timeline, judging criteria, and specific components are expected to be released on the Shein and Singapore Fashion Council websites in the coming weeks. This collaboration marks a significant step towards a more inclusive and diverse future for the global fashion industry, encouraging creativity that truly considers every body.
