A noticeable trend among the 2030 generation is the increasing emphasis on health-conscious consumption. Unlike past trends where taste and preference took priority, there's now a clear inclination to prioritize health when choosing food products.
Key Shifts in Consumption Trends:
Preference for Healthy Beverages and Foods:The 2030 generation accounts for 69.2% of protein drink sales at CU convenience stores, with overall protein drink sales increasing by 58%.
Greek yogurt, known as a diet food, is also highly popular, with the 2030 generation making up 71.4% of total sales.
At GS25, the 2030 generation accounts for 70% of salad product sales and 60% of sales of health supplements like vitamins and collagen.
Spread of Lighter Drinking Culture:While those in their 40s and older mainly choose soju and beer, the 2030 generation prefers lighter alcoholic beverages like highballs.
Approximately 70% of highballs sold at convenience stores last year were purchased by the 2030 generation, while the 20s accounted for only 14.8% and 10.0% of soju and beer sales, respectively.
30s generation showed soju and beer sales by 23.5%, and 25.8% respectively.
Reduced Drinking Frequency and Health Management:There's a growing trend among the 2030 generation to reduce drinking frequency and maintain healthy eating habits for their well-being.
