Busan, South Korea – Busan Metropolitan City has announced a significant recruitment drive for its public sector, with 17 public institutions set to hire a total of 320 individuals in the first half of 2025. This marks the largest joint hiring initiative of its kind in the city's history, surpassing the 300 positions offered in the same period last year. The announcement underscores Busan's commitment to bolstering its public services and injecting fresh talent into key sectors.

The joint recruitment effort, coordinated by Busan City, aims to streamline the hiring process and enhance transparency and fairness in the selection of public sector employees. Online applications will be accepted exclusively through the official Busan City Public Institution Joint Recruitment website (busan.saramin.co.kr) from 10:00 AM on April 17th to 5:00 PM on April 23rd. Prospective candidates are advised that multiple applications to different institutions or duplicate applications to the same institution will not be permitted.

A diverse range of public organizations are participating in this large-scale hiring, reflecting the breadth of services provided by the city. Notably, the Busan Transportation Corporation leads the hiring with 187 available positions, followed by the Busan Urban Corporation with 30 and the Busan Infrastructure Corporation with 34. Other participating institutions include the Busan Environment Corporation (8), BEXCO (Busan Exhibition and Convention Center) (4), Busan Credit Guarantee Foundation (6), Busan Technopark (2), Busan Economic Promotion Agency (11), Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency (3), Busan Global City Foundation (4), Busan Social Service Agency (3), Busan Design Center (2), Busan Cultural Foundation (2), Cinema Center (10), Busan Institute for Advanced Science and Technology Higher Education (1), Busan Cultural Center (4), and the newly established Busan Center for Creative Economy and Innovation, which is recruiting 9 new staff members.

The inclusion of the Busan Center for Creative Economy and Innovation, established in February 2025, highlights the city's focus on fostering innovation and entrepreneurship. The 9 positions at this new center contribute to the overall increase of 20 hires compared to the first half of 2024.

The recruitment process will commence with a joint written examination scheduled for May 17th. Specific examination venues will be announced at a later date via the Busan City Public Institution Joint Recruitment website and potentially individual institution websites. Successful candidates from the written examination will be notified on May 28th at 2:00 PM through the same online platforms.

Following the written exam, successful applicants will undergo personality assessments, after which each participating institution will conduct its own document screening and interview processes to finalize their hiring decisions.

Busan City has been conducting joint written examinations for its public institutions since 2021 as part of its ongoing efforts to ensure a fair and transparent recruitment process. Kim Gyeong-tae, Head of the Planning and Coordination Office of Busan City, reaffirmed this commitment, stating, "We will do our utmost to manage a fair and transparent recruitment process."

Detailed information regarding specific job roles, required qualifications, and examination subjects for each institution is available on the Busan City website (presumably www.busan.go.kr) and the official websites of the individual public institutions participating in the recruitment drive. Potential applicants are strongly encouraged to consult these resources for comprehensive details before submitting their applications. This significant hiring initiative presents a valuable opportunity for individuals seeking to contribute to the growth and development of Busan through public service.
