CHEONAN, South Korea – In commemoration of the 80th Arbor Day, the Cheonan City Corporation (President & CEO Shin Kwang-ho) held a tree planting event on April 4th, underscoring its commitment to achieving carbon neutrality.

Approximately 60 employees of the corporation participated in the initiative at the newly entrusted Baekseok-dong Yugwansun Park Golf Course. During the event, they planted 2,500 Royal Azaleas (Youngsan Hong) and 15 Emerald Green Arborvitae trees. The Royal Azaleas, known for their air purification and carbon absorption capabilities, are expected to bloom with vibrant pink flowers in the spring, offering a beautiful seasonal spectacle for the city's residents.

This Arbor Day activity builds upon the corporation's recent environmental efforts. Last month, the Cheonan City Corporation planted 500 Nandina trees along the walking trails of the Cheonan Football Center and actively worked to remove invasive plant species. These ongoing initiatives demonstrate the corporation's proactive approach to fostering a healthy urban environment.

"This event provided a meaningful opportunity for our employees to directly engage in environmental protection and fulfill our corporate social responsibility," stated President & CEO Shin Kwang-ho. He further emphasized the corporation's future commitment, saying, "We will continue to pursue various activities to create a sustainable environment and build a green growth infrastructure."

The Cheonan City Corporation's dedication to environmental stewardship aligns with broader national efforts in South Korea to combat climate change and promote green initiatives. Arbor Day, celebrated annually on April 5th, serves as a reminder of the importance of trees in maintaining ecological balance and a healthy planet. By actively involving its employees and focusing on planting species with environmental benefits, the Cheonan City Corporation is setting a positive example for corporate responsibility in the region. The selection of the Yugwansun Park Golf Course as the location for this year's planting also highlights the corporation's commitment to enhancing green spaces within the city for public enjoyment.
