Cheonan, South Korea – Independence Hall and Korea University Anam Hospital announced on March 6th the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to jointly promote the spirit of the Korean Independence Movement. The agreement, signed on March 5th, aims to leverage the unique capabilities of both institutions to educate and inspire the public, particularly as the nation approaches the 80th anniversary of its liberation.
The collaboration will initiate with Independence Hall dispatching its curators to conduct monthly historical education programs for students at Korea University Anam Hospital's school, starting from March and continuing until November. These programs will feature engaging, hands-on learning experiences tailored to pediatric patients, focusing on themes such as national symbols and the stories of key figures and organizations in the independence movement.
The inaugural session, titled "The First Steps of the Republic of Korea: The Story of the Provisional Government," will highlight the contributions of individuals like former Korea University President Kim Joon-yeop, who served in the Korean Liberation Army, the official military of the Provisional Government of Korea. The program aims to commemorate those who dedicated themselves to the nation's independence and development.
In addition to the educational programs, Independence Hall and the hospital are planning to develop exhibitions and cultural experiences related to the independence movement for patients, families, and medical staff. Both organizations are committed to continuously identifying and developing collaborative projects that serve the community.
Kim Hyung-seok, Director of Independence Hall, expressed deep appreciation for the spirit of service and sharing demonstrated by Korea University Anam Hospital. "Through this agreement, we aim to implement a variety of exchange programs, including education and exhibitions, to share the spirit of the independence movement with a wider audience," said Director Kim.
This partnership signifies a commitment to preserving and promoting the legacy of the Korean Independence Movement, ensuring its values are passed on to future generations.
