Daejeon, South Korea – Daejeon City is set to become a major rail tourism destination, forging a strategic partnership with Korail Tourism Development to attract visitors from across the nation. The city announced the agreement on March 4th, outlining plans to develop and promote train travel packages that highlight Daejeon’s unique attractions.
The agreement focuses on several key initiatives, including the development of railway products linked to Daejeon’s signature festivals, such as the “Daejeon 0 o'clock Festival.” The partnership will also focus on attracting both domestic and international tourists through rail-connected travel experiences. Additionally, both parties have pledged to cooperate on regional development and shared management, as well as broader initiatives to revitalize the tourism industry and boost the local economy.
Daejeon City aims to significantly increase tourist numbers by offering train travel packages that connect with major regions across South Korea, including the Seoul metropolitan area, the Gyeongsang region, and the Jeolla region. This initiative will allow more travelers to experience the attractions of “Honey Jam City” Daejeon.
Daejeon city has also been pushing forward on city marketing using it’s character “Daejeon Kkumssi Family”. This includes making tourism products featuring the character.
“Daejeon is now opening wider paths for tourism with the help of rail travel,” said Daejeon Mayor Lee Jang-woo. “Through our collaboration with Korail Tourism Development, travel to Daejeon will become easier and more enjoyable. We will do our utmost to showcase Daejeon’s unique charm to the entire nation and establish the city as a must-visit destination.”
