Madrid, Spain – Solaria Energía y Medio Ambiente has announced it has received confirmation from Red Eléctrica de España (REE), the Spanish grid operator, regarding the feasibility of grid access and connection for a 213-megawatt (MW) power supply dedicated to a data center project in southern Madrid. This significant step forward paves the way for the development of a major data processing center (CPD) in the region.

The approval from REE signifies that the grid infrastructure has the capacity to accommodate the substantial energy demands of the proposed data center. This is a critical milestone for Solaria, demonstrating the viability of the project and clearing a major hurdle in its development. The 213 MW connection will ensure a reliable and robust power supply, essential for the continuous operation of a large-scale data center.

While Solaria's official statement to the Comisión Nacional del Mercado de Valores (CNMV) did not disclose specific details about the data center client or its precise location within southern Madrid, the scale of the power connection suggests a substantial investment and a significant addition to the region's digital infrastructure. Data centers are increasingly crucial for supporting the growing demand for cloud computing, data storage, and other digital services. Their presence often stimulates local economies, attracting further investment and creating job opportunities.

This project comes at a time of increasing focus on data center development in Spain, driven by its strategic location and growing digital economy. The availability of reliable and sustainable energy sources is a key factor in attracting such investments. Solaria, a leading developer of renewable energy projects, is well-positioned to capitalize on this trend. The company focuses on developing large-scale solar power plants, which could potentially provide a clean energy solution for the data center's operations. While the announcement doesn't explicitly confirm the source of the 213 MW, Solaria's expertise in renewable energy suggests a potential link to solar power generation.

The successful securing of the grid connection represents a major advancement for Solaria and underscores the growing importance of data centers in the digital age. Further details regarding the project, including the client and timeline for completion, are expected to be released in the future. This development highlights Spain's attractiveness as a hub for data center investment and reinforces the crucial role of grid infrastructure in supporting the expansion of the digital economy.
