Roberto Moreno (49, Spain, photo), who has taken charge as the interim head manager of the South Korean national football team, shared his aspirations through his personal website on the 4th. Manager Moreno stated, "It is an honor and I feel a great sense of responsibility to take charge of the South Korean national team. I have watched and respected Korean football for many years, and my mission now is to dedicate myself to the development of Korean football." He added, "I will not promise results. Instead, I will give my sincere effort, honesty, and an attitude of respect."

The Korea Football Association (KFA) approved the appointment of six coaching staff members, including Manager Moreno, on the 1st. Manager Moreno, who has become the first head manager of the South Korean national team through an open recruitment process, will initially lead the team for six A-matches held from September to November. Depending on his performance, he may continue to lead the team until the 2027 AFC Asian Cup, which opens in Saudi Arabia next January.

Meanwhile, Hyun Young-min, Chairman of the KFA National Team Committee, explained the background behind the appointment of Manager Moreno on the 4th. Chairman Hyun explained, "As soon as the local meeting schedule in Spain was set, the entire coaching staff, scattered across various parts of Spain, gathered in one place in less than 12 hours," adding, "It felt fresh to see that he even understood the characteristics of K리그 (K League) players as well as the military team, Gimcheon Sangmu." He also stated, "Even before the contract, he showed an active willingness by wanting to communicate directly with European-based players and asking for their contact information." Moreno-ho will face its first test in a match against Ecuador to be held at the Suwon World Cup Stadium on the 24th.
