Montevideo – In a move to foster cultural exchange and provide opportunities for young people, the governments of Uruguay and Portugal have signed an agreement to introduce a special work visa program for youth.

The program, set to launch in [Start Date], will allow individuals aged 18 to 35 to travel to either country for up to a year, with the option to work for a maximum of six months. The visa will provide young people with a unique opportunity to experience a new culture, improve their language skills, and gain valuable work experience.

Key features of the program include:

Age limit: Open to individuals aged 18 to 35.
Duration: Up to one year, with a maximum of six months of authorized work.
Requirements:Proof of a return flight or sufficient funds to purchase one.
Demonstration of sufficient funds to support oneself during the initial period of stay.
Visa application through the Uruguayan embassy or Portuguese consulate.
Quota: A maximum of 200 participants per country annually.
Work sectors: Agriculture and hospitality sectors are expected to be popular choices.
The Uruguayan Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed optimism that the program will broaden opportunities for young people to gain international experience and strengthen ties between the two countries. Portugal, with its robust agriculture and hospitality sectors, is expected to offer a wide range of employment opportunities for Uruguayan youth.

The Portuguese ambassador highlighted the diverse job opportunities available in Portugal, particularly in the agricultural and hospitality industries.

This agreement is expected to facilitate youth mobility, enhance cultural exchange, and foster stronger bilateral ties between Uruguay and Portugal. By providing young people with the opportunity to live and work abroad, the program aims to broaden their horizons and equip them with valuable skills for the global job market.
