The Gangwon Tourism Organization (CEO Choi Sung-hyun, hereinafter referred to as the "Organization"), together with Kangwon Land Inc. and Jeongseon-gun, will host the "2nd Untang Godo Wishing Trail Trekking" on October 31 (Sat) around Untang Godo 1330 Trail Course 5 and High1 Resort.
Last year's inaugural event drew approximately 3,000 participants. This year, the Organization has once again designed the program to allow participants to experience nature and local stories while walking along "Untang Godo 1330." This event will feature three courses with varying difficulties and distances along the Untang Godo trail centered within the High1 Resort grounds. The "Wishing Fulfillment Trail" is an 8.1km course of intermediate difficulty, the "Wishing Companion Trail" is a 5.5km course of lower-intermediate difficulty, and the "Wishing Enjoyment Trail" is a 3km course of easy difficulty. Various experiential programs will also be available along each course.
Participant registration has been open since October 1 through the official event website (https://www.untantrekking.com/) and will close on a first-come, first-served basis. Detailed information including the event schedule, courses, and application methods can also be found on the website. The participation fee is 25,000 won, and participants will receive various benefits such as a finisher souvenir and a cable car pass.
Notably, 15,000 won of the 25,000-won participation fee will be refunded in Jeongseon Arirang gift certificates. Participants can use these gift certificates at "Maenggeuljang," a local Jeongseon market held at the Mountain Condo lawn plaza on the day of the event. It is expected that as participants engage in the event while browsing and purchasing local specialty products and handicrafts, they will also contribute to the local economy.
Choi Sung-hyun, CEO of the Gangwon Tourism Organization, stated, "We hope this trekking event, held for the second consecutive year following last year, will serve as an opportunity to promote the historical and cultural value of Untang Godo and bring vitality to the region." He added, "We ask for your great interest and participation in this event, which will gift you the beauty of the autumn mountains and special memories."
