The Gyeongsangbuk-do Culture & Tourism Corporation (President Kim Nam-il) has published the October issue of ‘Gyeongsangbuk-do Travel MVTI’, titled “Special Thanks to Autumn,” delivering a small comma to everyday life by capturing the harvest and abundance of autumn.
This October issue introduces various autumn attractions filled step-by-step throughout Gyeongsangbuk-do, such as fields turning golden, plump fruits, and flowers swaying in the autumn breeze, allowing visitors to pause for a moment in their busy daily lives.
First, the journey follows the nostalgic atmosphere of old villages rich in history. Bonghwa’s Daksil Village welcomes visitors with golden fields stretching right up to the front of the village in autumn. As a tranquil traditional village with a history of over 500 years dating back to the mid-Joseon Dynasty, the tiled roofs of old houses carrying long years create an even more classical charm under the autumn sunlight. In particular, Cheongamjeong Pavilion, perched upon a designated scenic turtle-shaped rock, creates a view reminiscent of an oriental painting as the surrounding trees are dyed with autumn foliage.

Gyeongju’s Yangdong Village, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is also a village with a 500-year tradition. Red persimmons ripen lusciously beside thatched and tiled roofs, and autumn foliage spreads through the earthen wall alleys where old houses stand, deeply coloring the autumn of a Joseon Dynasty noble village that has spanned centuries.
In Cheongsong’s Deokcheon Village, designated as a Cittaslow (international slow city), visitors can encounter Songso Old Residence, a 99-room grand mansion built by a wealthy landlord of the Cheongsong Shim clan. Autumn crops ripen in the green fields, while yellow ginkgo trees and red mountain ridges blend together, filling the season with their own colors alongside the small flowers in front of the village.

Gyeongsangbuk-do's autumn unfolds a colorful feast created by autumn flowers. Bongcheonsa Temple, a quiet mountain temple nestled on the slopes of Wolbangsan Mountain at an altitude of 360 meters in Mungyeong, features a profusion of light purple asters against a backdrop of winding mountain ridges in autumn. The small flowers blooming among the old scenery of the mountain temple create a breathtaking view resembling a spread of purple velvet.
At Chilgokbo Ecological Park, where a dreamy pink hue unfolds alongside the open Nakdonggang River, visitors can encounter pink muhly swaying softly in the autumn breeze. Just lingering amidst the flower beds, whose colors shift depending on the direction of sunlight, makes the October scenery all the more cozy.
Gimcheon’s Gangbyeon Park, stretching long along the clear-flowing Jikjicheon Stream, transforms brilliantly into a gorgeous cosmos colony in autumn. With the tranquil stream close by, an abundance of pink, white, and crimson cosmos captures the gazes of visitors out for a walk. Walking leisurely along the millions of flower waves swaying lightly in the fresh autumn breeze, the peaceful waterside scenery harmonizing with the cozy stepping stones will comfortably soothe the mind.

Lastly, Sangju’s Cheongni-myeon catches the eye, allowing visitors to fully feel the romance of the autumn fields. The Mugunghwa train crossing the endless golden fields looks just like a scene from a fairy tale. The train, which enters the scenery and quickly fades into the distance, offers a fleeting romance, making Sangju a representative emotional spot that you want to gaze at longer because it is brief.
Kim Nam-il, President of the Gyeongsangbuk-do Culture & Tourism Corporation, said, "This October MVTI is composed of Gyeongsangbuk-do's autumn attractions filled with unsparing abundance. We hope you will enjoy an autumn trip that presents yourself with a small comma in daily life, walking slowly and lingering long before the abundance handed down by the year."
