Global AI powerhouse NVIDIA released a powerful 3-minute, 16-second video titled 'South Korea's Next Industrial Revolution' on its official YouTube channel on October 31, local time, lauding the nation's rapid development and immense potential in the upcoming AI era. The tribute coincided with the announcement of a monumental deal to supply 260,000 units of its latest Blackwell GPUs to South Korea.
The video, narrated in Korean with English subtitles, begins by celebrating the "Miracle on the Han River," noting, "Through your determination and sacrifice, you achieved the fastest industrialization in history." It chronologically showcases the country's transformation through milestones like the inception of key industrial giants in steel, semiconductors, and automobiles. Furthermore, NVIDIA paid homage to South Korea's pivotal role in global e-sports, crediting the nation's passion, exemplified by the 'PC Bang' culture, for innovations in GPU technology. CEO Jensen Huang had previously acknowledged that GPU advancements like G-SYNC and Reflex were indebted to Korean e-sports.
Looking forward, the video pivots to the AI revolution, asserting that South Korea is moving from the Industrial Revolution to the AI Revolution. It highlights major Korean players—including Samsung, Hyundai, SK, Naver, and LG—for building AI infrastructure to power smart factories, digital twins, and advanced robotics. The video concludes with the solemn message: "We are honored to be able to be with you. Right here in Korea, where the miracle continues." The massive GPU deal, valued up to 14 trillion KRW (approximately $10.3 billion), involves supplying the government and four major firms—Samsung Electronics, SK Group, Hyundai Motor Group, and Naver Cloud—elevating the bilateral AI relationship to an official 'alliance.' Analysts suggest NVIDIA's decision underscores Korea’s robust and comprehensive value chain, making it the ideal market to translate advanced AI infrastructure into real-world industrial application.
