Fostering Pure and Bright Minds Like the Spring Breeze in Our Children

The Chungnam Children's Character Education Center (Director Han Yu-mi) successfully held its "Cheongmyeong Day" event on Saturday, April 5th, with two sessions running from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. This special event was timed to coincide with the Cheongmyeong (clear and bright) season, a time that signifies the beauty of springtime. The aim was to encourage an appreciation for nature, deeply rooted in traditional Korean culture, and to cultivate a sense of cherishing our environment and heritage. The event catered to families with young children aged 3 and under, as well as preschoolers up to the age of 3rd grade.

The event day serendipitously aligned with Hansik (한식 - Cold Food Day) and Arbor Day, further enriching the activities. Embracing the significance of tending to nature on Arbor Day and the Hansik tradition of observing the weather and consuming cold food, a variety of engaging experiences centered on life and nature were organized. These included insect encounters, creating miniature gardens, and preparing and enjoying flower bibimbap.

The "World of Reptile Exploration: Build My Home" corner provided children with an up-close experience with reptiles rarely seen in daily life. The activity culminated in the children adopting stag beetles into personally decorated habitats, fostering a sense of responsibility towards living creatures. Furthermore, the flower bibimbap, shared by families, offered a delightful way to connect with nature and appreciate the gifts of spring.

Regarding the event, Deputy Director Noh Hye-jin expressed her hopes: "Just as the plum blossoms and cornus flowers bloom together in the center's garden, symbolizing the arrival of spring, we hope that the Chungnam Children's Character Education Center will become a clear symbol of character education for children and contribute to the well-being of the local community."

(Naepo) Applications for individual exhibition play experiences at the Nature Play Area can be made by registering as a member on the Chungcheongnam-do Children's Character Education Center website (www.insung.go.kr). Registered members can then check their application status on their My Page.
