At least 8 killed, including a child, in recent Israeli strikes across Gaza

Gaza — A series of Israeli airstrikes in the Gaza Strip resulted in the deaths of eight people, including a young child, according to local medical sources and civil defense officials on Sunday.

Hospital authorities reported that a missile strike hit a civilian gathering spot near a school, claiming the lives of three individuals, including a four-year-old boy. Separately, in the southern city of Khan Younis, a drone attack targeting police personnel left five people dead.

Ali Oweis, who lost his son and grandson in the violence, told reporters that the targeted area had been quiet prior to the sudden explosion, stating that the war is far from over despite ongoing talks.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated that the operations were aimed at neutralizing suspected operatives in both the northern and southern sectors of the enclave, adding that they are currently reviewing the outcomes of the strikes.

Tensions remain high as Israel contends that Hamas has violated a U.S.-brokered truce established in October 2025 by continuing to rearm and launch attacks. Conversely, Hamas has rejected these allegations, accusing Israeli forces of repeatedly breaching the ceasefire agreement.

According to Gaza’s health ministry, more than 1,500 Palestinians have died in various attacks since the truce was initially declared. Meanwhile, Israel reports that four of its soldiers have been killed during the same period. The ministry also noted that the overall death toll since the outbreak of the conflict in October 2023 has now surpassed 74,500.
