On January 7th and 8th, Minister Yoo In-chon of the MCST, along with officials from the APEC Preparatory Planning Team (Ministry of Foreign Affairs), the Cultural Heritage Administration, Gyeongsangbuk-do Province, and Gyeongju City, visited Gyeongju, the host city of the 2025 APEC Summit, to inspect the preparations for the summit, which is less than 10 months away.

Gyeongju, the host city of the 2025 APEC Summit, is a captivating city that boasts a rich cultural heritage and showcases Korea's unique culture. This summit is expected to introduce Korea's cultural sophistication and the power of regional culture to the world.

In particular, the MCST will focus on creating a "Cultural APEC" that showcases the charm of K-culture and regional culture by supporting various cultural events throughout the year, such as K-content exhibitions, art and craft exhibitions, and regular tourism performances, in locations that can maximize the cultural and historical significance of Gyeongju.

To this end, the MCST launched the "APEC Culture and Tourism Promotion Support Team" (headed by the Director-General of the International Cultural Promotion Policy Bureau) on December 4, 2024, to provide concentrated support in the areas of culture, tourism, and promotion to ensure the successful hosting of the APEC Summit.

Additionally, the MCST plans to host the first-ever APEC Culture Senior Officials' Dialogue (scheduled for June 2025 in Gyeongju), where culture ministers from APEC member countries will participate to strengthen cooperation in the creative cultural industries within the APEC region.
