Kuwait’s leading low-cost carrier, Jazeera Airways, has announced a strategic initiative to insource its ground handling services at Kuwait International Airport, its primary hub. This move aims to significantly streamline operations, elevate the customer experience, and achieve substantial cost efficiencies.

Strategic In-House Operations

By bringing ground handling operations in-house, Jazeera Airways seeks to gain greater control over critical aspects of its service delivery. This includes baggage handling, aircraft servicing, and passenger assistance, ensuring a more seamless and consistent experience for its nearly 5 million annual passengers.

"Bringing ground handling operations in-house marks another key milestone in our long-term strategy to enhance efficiency and elevate the passenger experience," stated Marwan Boodai, Chairman of Jazeera Airways. "As we expand and prepare for the arrival of new aircraft, this strategic move will allow us to improve turnaround times, deliver superior service quality, and achieve lower unit costs."

Fleet Expansion and Growth Trajectory

Jazeera Airways, operating a fleet of 24 Airbus A320 aircraft, has established itself as a pivotal player in the regional aviation landscape since its inception in 2002. The airline contributes to 31% of passenger traffic in Kuwait, managing over 18,000 ground handling rotations annually.

Looking ahead, Jazeera Airways is poised for substantial growth with a significant aircraft order. The airline is anticipating the arrival of 26 new Airbus aircraft, including 18 A320neos and 8 A321neos, scheduled for delivery starting in 2027. Furthermore, they had recently added six Airbus A320ceo aircraft to its fleet. This strategic growth will reinforce Kuwait's position as a prominent aviation hub in the region.

Commitment to Kuwait's Vision 2035

Jazeera Airways remains committed to contributing to Kuwait's Vision 2035, a national development plan aimed at diversifying the economy and enhancing infrastructure. The airline's expansion initiatives will generate valuable employment opportunities for Kuwaiti graduates, fostering the growth of the nation's aviation sector.

"As a Kuwaiti company, we also remain committed to investing in the growth of Kuwait’s aviation sector in alignment with the government’s Vision 2035," Boodai added. "This year, we will announce new and exciting projects supporting our expansion, creating valuable job opportunities for the next generation of Kuwaiti graduates."

With these strategic advancements, Jazeera Airways is set to strengthen its position as a leading low-cost carrier, driving operational excellence and contributing to the growth of Kuwait's aviation industry.
