Parky of Jung-gu, Daejeon, has crossed the Yellow Sea to open a new path for South Korea-China sports exchange through park golf.

The Daejeon Jung-gu Park Golf Association (President Oh No-gyun) announced that a delegation of around 30 park golf members, led by Head Kim Gyu-chul, departed for Weihai, China, on the 3rd at the invitation of the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee in China, Weihai Branch (President Bae Kyung-ho).

This visit marks the second South Korea-China park golf exchange event, following last year, carrying deeper significance as an international exchange connecting sports, history, and culture beyond simple friendly rounds.

After receiving a warm welcome from local sports officials and the Korean expatriate community at Weihai International Airport, the delegation will spend 4 days and 3 nights fostering goodwill and friendship between enthusiasts from both nations through park golf.

Notably, the "1st Ambassador Chang Bogo International Friendship Park Golf Tournament" will be held during this itinerary. It is expected to serve as a meaningful stage for South Korean and Chinese park golf enthusiasts to gather, showcase their skills, and build private diplomacy and international friendship through sports.

Alongside the tournament, the delegation plans to tour historical and cultural sites in Weihai, including Beihua Temple, which bears the footsteps of Ambassador Chang Bogo. The initiative reflects the purpose of continuing a new path of exchange through park golf today while looking back at the historical significance of Ambassador Chang Bogo laying the bridge for South Korea-China exchanges across the sea some 1,200 years ago.

Delegation Head Kim Gyu-chul stated, "It is deeply meaningful to visit Weihai for the second consecutive year. Since the 1st Ambassador Chang Bogo International Friendship Tournament is being held together this year, I hope all participants share the joy of sports and deepen their friendship between South Korea and China."

Oh No-gyun, President of the Daejeon Jung-gu Park Golf Association, remarked, "Just as Ambassador Chang Bogo opened the sea route across the Yellow Sea, today we are forging a new path of private sports exchange through park golf. Taking this event as an opportunity, we will strive for Parky of Daejeon Jung-gu to grow beyond domestic borders into a bridge for international recreational sports exchanges connecting South Korea, China, and Japan."

The Daejeon Jung-gu Park Golf Association plans to further expand exchanges with overseas park golf organizations in regions such as Weihai, China, and Japan, developing park golf into an international grassroots sports content that harmonizes sports, tourism, and culture.
