2025 EV Charging Facility Subsidy Guidelines Finalized, Support Program to Begin Early March

The Ministry of Environment announced on the 26th that it has finalized the 2025 budget for supporting the installation of EV charging facilities at 618.7 billion won, a 43% increase from the previous year, to expand the supply of electric vehicles, and will begin the support program in early March.

375.7 Billion Won for Rapid Charger Installation, 243 Billion Won for Smart Control Slow Charger Installation

The government plans to invest 375.7 billion won in the rapid charger installation project and 243 billion won in the smart control slow charger installation project to expand charging facilities.

Subsidy Support for Chargers Adjusted to Reflect Rising Prices

The government has adjusted the subsidy support amount in consideration of rising prices such as increased charger purchase and installation costs, through discussions with the product evaluation committee composed of external advisors. As a result, the subsidy for rapid chargers (100kW) has been increased by 6 million won, and the subsidy for slow chargers (7kW) has been set at 2.2 million won. In addition, installation costs for closed-circuit television (CCTV) and thermal imaging cameras are now eligible for subsidy support.

Priority Support for Rapid Charger Installation in Densely Populated Urban Areas, Strengthened Maintenance Obligations for Charging Operators

To expand EV charging facilities, the government will prioritize the installation of rapid chargers in densely populated urban areas such as old apartment complexes and large supermarkets, and will continue to expand charging infrastructure in gas stations, highway rest areas, and logistics centers. In addition, the maintenance obligations of charging operators will be strengthened, and subsidy payments may be restricted if these obligations are not met, and will be reflected in the evaluation of the selection of business operators for the following year.

Improved Convenience of EV Charging Payment, Support for Rapid Charger Installation to be Offered through Public Bidding in March

To improve the convenience of EV charging payment, the feasibility of joint use (roaming) services and joint use fee application between charging operators will be evaluated when selecting business operators, and support for rapid charger installation will be offered through a public bidding for regional zero-emission vehicle conversion brand projects in March.

Ministry of Environment to Install Appropriate Chargers in Accordance with EV Usage Environment and Create a Safe and Convenient Charging Environment

Oh Il-young, Director of the Air Environment Policy Division at the Ministry of Environment, said, "We will expand the supply of electric vehicles by installing appropriate chargers in accordance with the EV usage environment and creating a safer and more convenient charging environment."
