Seoul, South Korea – Ko Jin-young has climbed back into the top 10 of the women's world golf rankings, securing the highest rank among Korean players. Her resurgence comes after a stellar performance at the LPGA Founders Cup in Bradenton, Florida, where she finished as the runner-up.
Ko Jin-young's impressive showing propelled her four spots up the rankings, from 11th to 7th, in the latest weekly update released on Monday. This marks a significant comeback for the former world No. 1, who had slipped to 12th earlier this year.
"I am thrilled to be back in the top 10," said Ko Jin-young. "I have been working hard on my game, and I am starting to see the results. I am grateful for the support of my fans, and I am determined to continue improving."
The Founders Cup proved to be a thrilling contest for Ko Jin-young, as she battled closely with Korean-American player Noh Ye-rim for the title. Despite her strong performance, Ko Jin-young narrowly missed out on the victory, finishing in second place.
Noh Ye-rim's impressive performance also earned her a significant jump in the rankings, as she moved from 68th to 32nd. This marks her highest ranking since 2021, when she finished third at the Amundi Evian Championship.
Meanwhile, the top six players in the world rankings remained unchanged. Nelly Korda, Lydia Ko, Yin Ruoning, Jino Tittikul, Lilia Vu, and Hannah Green continue to hold the top spots.
Among other Korean players, Yoo Hae-ran dropped one spot to 8th, while Yang Hee-young maintained her position at 12th. Yoon Ina, who made her LPGA Tour debut at the Founders Cup, rose four places to 25th despite missing the cut.
Ko Jin-young's return to the top 10 is a testament to her resilience and determination. After a challenging year in 2023, she has bounced back stronger than ever, reclaiming her place among the elite players in women's golf.
