Korean American Association of Greater New York Forms 39th Executive Body: Kyung-hwa Kim Appointed Senior Vice President

Half of the Executive Body, Including Executives and Special Committees, Comprised of 1.5 and 2nd Generation Korean Americans President Myungsuk Lee Emphasizes Harmony with Past Administrations and Recruitment of the Next Generation

The Korean American Association of Greater New York (KAAGNY), led by President Myungsuk Lee, announced on May 8th that it held a meeting on May 6th at the Korean American Center in New York, bringing together the 39th Executive Body, executives, and the Board of Trustees.

President Lee completed the formation of the executive team that will lead the first half of the KAAGNY's 39th term last week.

Kyung-hwa Kim (former Senior Vice President of the 37th administration) was appointed as the Senior Vice President, and Gap-sun Eum (former Cultural Senior Vice President of the 38th administration) was appointed as the Executive Vice President. Already-sun Lee (Vice President of Social Welfare at the New York Chapter of the National Unification Advisory Council) and Oh-bong Kwon (President of the Korean American Shooting Federation of the Americas) were appointed as Co-Vice Presidents.

Senior Vice President Kim's appointment is expected to receive majority approval at the board meeting scheduled for May.

Regarding the appointments for the first half of his term, President Lee stated, "We focused on harmony between the 37th and 38th administrations and the recruitment of the 1.5 and 2nd generations."

The current executive body consists of the president, 20 vice presidents, 5 executives, and 6 special committees. Notably, 17 individuals, comprising 13 from the 1.5 generation and 4 from the 2nd generation, make up nearly 50% of the entire body.

Three members of the Board of Trustees also attended the meeting, which lasted approximately two hours, during which they discussed and introduced personnel in various fields and exchanged plans and proposals.

President Lee announced, "The major projects for the first half of the 39th term will be reported at the first board meeting, and we will announce the specific details of these projects at a press conference next week with key executive members and the Board of Trustees."
