ASUNCIÓN, Paraguay – The Paraguayan Supermarket Association (CAPASU) has announced a special Easter promotion offering discounts of up to 40% on at least 55 essential items. The discount event will run for 10 days, from April 11th to April 20th.

CAPASU made the announcement at a press conference following a meeting at the National Congress. Joaquín González, President of CAPASU, stated, "We have prepared this discount event to ease the financial burden on consumers during the Easter season. We will strive to apply discounts to as many items as possible."

The discount event will be held simultaneously across all supermarket chains affiliated with CAPASU, and the discounted items can be purchased individually. The currently confirmed discounted items are as follows:

Groceries: Corn, peas, mixed vegetables, tuna, tomato paste, sardines, condensed milk, coffee, yerba mate, cooking oil, seasonings, sweeteners, mayonnaise, ketchup, jam, rice, biscuits, noodles, flour, margarine, canned peaches
Beverages: Wine
Dairy: Grated cheese
Household Cleaners: Toilet paper, liquid detergent, powdered detergent
Bakery: Chipa Pirú (traditional bread)
CAPASU is reportedly working to include eggs and some meat items in the discount promotion. However, milk has been excluded from this event.

This large-scale discount event by CAPASU is expected to alleviate some of the concerns among consumers regarding rising grocery prices ahead of Easter.

Additional Information:

Easter (Semana Santa): One of the most important Christian holidays, commemorating the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Easter is a significant public holiday in Paraguay, with many people spending time with family or participating in religious services.
CAPASU: Acronym for Cámara Paraguaya de Supermercados (Paraguayan Supermarket Association), an organization representing the interests of supermarkets in Paraguay and promoting the development of the related industry.
Chipa: A traditional Paraguayan bread made primarily from cassava starch, cheese, and eggs. It is a popular food, especially during the Easter season.
Detailed information about this discount event can be found on the CAPASU website or the websites and stores of each supermarket chain.
