Seoul City holds competition to discover ideas for solving urban problems using drones

[Global Economic Times] The city of Seoul will hold the “7th Seoul Metropolitan Government Drone Utilization Contest” on December 10 to solve urban problems using drones and discover smart citizen services that are converged with other technologies. .

In order to develop the drone industry and discover creative ideas, it was held for the 7th time, starting with the 1st in 2018. Among the winning works of the past competition were Hanok facility inspection, bridge facility inspection, and S-Map (3D twin map) 3D models for areas requiring high precision. It is being used for renewal work.

The size of the domestic and international market for drones, a leading field of the 4th Industrial Revolution, is also rapidly increasing, and it is becoming a major means for future new growth industries and regional economic development.

Anyone who wants to participate (maximum of 3 people per team) can download the participation application form and policy proposal from the Seoul Metropolitan Government website from October 21st to November 19th, fill it out, and submit it by e-mail.

Participating works will be reviewed based on their novelty, efficiency, and effectiveness, and 6 award candidates and 2 special award teams will be selected. The award candidate teams (people) will be announced and judged on the day of the competition on December 10th, and will be divided into 1 grand prize team (people), 2 grand prize teams (people), 3 excellence award teams (people), and 2 special award teams for students (excluding graduate school). It is covered by (name). The grand prize winner will be awarded 2 million won, the grand prize and excellence prize will be awarded 1 million won and 500,000 won respectively, and the special prize will be awarded 300,000 won each.

In addition, the use of drones combined with intelligent information technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), big data, cloud, mobile, and digital twin (DT, including digital spatial information) Additional points will be given to proposals.

The excellent proposals selected this year are shared with relevant departments so that they can be considered for use, and are reflected in Seoul City policies through pilot (contest) projects.

Seoul plans to build a smart city by continuously holding competitions and using drones to discover administrative services for citizens, and actively introduce drones into Seoul city work to improve citizen participation and satisfaction and increase the efficiency of administrative work. am.

Park Jin-young, Director of the Seoul Metropolitan Government's Digital City Department, said, “Through this drone competition, we hope that novel ideas that can contribute to improving citizen services and administrative work efficiency will be discovered and contribute to revitalizing the use of drones in Seoul,” adding, “Students and experts interested in drones. “We ask for a lot of interest and participation from citizens.”
