The international community once again stands before a massive wave of uncertainty. This is because the actions of President Donald Trump, who shook the multilateral order under the banner of "America First," continue to cast a long shadow across the globe. His politics, which converted the value of alliances into costs and reversed international agreements at a whim, has now moved beyond a personal style to become a structural risk threatening world peace and prosperity.
The most concerning aspect is the collapse of universal norms. Trump-style politics prioritizes the logic of power and the "art of the deal" over diplomatic assets like dialogue and compromise. His disregard for international organizations and withdrawal from the Paris Agreement on climate change instantly destroyed the shared values humanity has built over decades. He ignores the fact that problems facing the global village cannot be solved by the dogma of a single nation, instead relegating the international order to a consumable for domestic political gain.
Confusion is also mounting in the economic sphere. The strengthening of protectionism and the introduction of universal tariffs are destroying the predictability of global supply chains and driving the world economy into a quagmire of self-preservation. This goes beyond a simple trade war; it is an act that shakes the basic framework of modern civilization, which has maintained peace through mutual dependence. The fact that even allies must fall in line under economic pressure with "security" as collateral is seriously damaging the solidarity of the international community.
The global village must now ask itself: How long should the fate of the entire world be left to the erratic actions of a single politician? Values like democracy, human rights, and free trade are neither the exclusive property of a particular nation nor subjects for trade. We must face the vulnerability of the international order exposed by the "Trump phenomenon" and build a more robust, multi-layered cooperation system that is not swayed by the unilateralism of an individual or a nation.
We stand at a crossroads: return to a jungle ruled by arbitrary power or restore an order of coexistence and norms. The world must no longer be a stage toyed with by the political ambitions of a specific leader. Only the awakened solidarity of the international community can stop the politics of madness and reopen the era of universal common sense.
