SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA – In a determined effort to maintain their dominance in the premium television market amidst a growing influx of competitively priced televisions from Chinese manufacturers, South Korean technology behemoths Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics have unveiled their 2025 lineups of Artificial Intelligence (AI)-integrated TVs. These advanced televisions boast a suite of sophisticated AI functionalities, ranging from intelligent picture quality optimization to real-time content translation, positioning them as formidable contenders in the high-end segment.

Samsung Electronics, in a showcase event titled ‘Unbox&Discover 2025’ held at its flagship Samsung Gangnam store, presented its comprehensive 2025 AI TV portfolio. The company emphasized three core AI-driven pillars: ‘AI Home’ for enhanced smart home integration, an intelligent ‘AI Assistant’ for seamless user interaction, and ‘AI Picture Optimization’ for an unparalleled viewing experience.

A standout feature of the 2025 Samsung AI TV range is its ‘Real-time Translation’ capability, which promises to break down language barriers by providing on-screen subtitles in the user’s preferred language as they watch content. Furthermore, the intuitive ‘Click to Search’ functionality empowers viewers to effortlessly discover similar content and access detailed information about actors appearing on screen, including their filmographies, with a simple click of the remote.

Leveraging advanced upscaling and remastering technologies, Samsung’s new AI TVs are engineered to elevate both picture and sound quality. The ‘8K AI Upscaling Pro’ and ‘4K AI Upscaling Pro’ utilize sophisticated AI algorithms to intelligently upscale lower-resolution content, resulting in significantly enhanced detail, depth perception, and contrast. Complementing this, the ‘Auto HDR Remastering Pro’ employs AI deep learning to analyze Standard Dynamic Range (SDR) content on a scene-by-scene basis, applying real-time High Dynamic Range (HDR) effects to deliver richer contrast and more vibrant, lifelike colors, thereby maximizing viewer immersion. Demonstrating its commitment to this AI-centric strategy, Samsung has dramatically expanded its AI TV offerings for 2025, introducing 61 models across 14 series, a substantial increase from the 34 models across 9 series offered in the previous year.

Meanwhile, LG Electronics has also entered the fray with its 2025 OLED TV lineup, featuring a suite of five distinct AI-powered functionalities. The new LG OLED TVs will be available in premium OLED Evo models (M5/G5/C5) and standard OLED TV (B5) variants, catering to a wide range of consumer preferences with screen sizes spanning from 42 to an expansive 97 inches.

LG has prioritized user-friendliness by integrating dedicated buttons on its Magic Remote, providing effortless access to the five core AI features: △AI Concierge, an intelligent recommendation engine; △AI Search, for context-aware content discovery; △AI Chatbot, offering AI-powered customer support; △AI Picture & Sound Wizard, for personalized audio-visual optimization; and △Voice ID, for customized user experiences.

The ‘AI Concierge’ function proactively suggests relevant content and settings based on the user’s viewing habits at different times of the day, such as prompting the connection of a gaming console during typical gaming hours or suggesting sports highlights. Activating voice recognition by long-pressing the AI button allows users to engage with the generative AI-powered AI Agent. This intelligent agent can understand the nuances of user queries and commands, seamlessly integrating with features like AI Search, AI Chatbot, and the AI Picture & Sound Wizard to fulfill requests.

‘AI Search’ goes beyond simple keyword recognition, employing contextual understanding and intent inference to deliver more relevant search results. For instance, a voice query like "Show me good movies to watch before going to Paris" will prompt the AI to recommend films with a Parisian setting.

The ‘AI Chatbot’ serves as an intelligent troubleshooting assistant, providing immediate solutions to common TV-related issues. If a user reports, "The screen has become dark," the AI can offer step-by-step guidance, potentially eliminating the need to contact a customer service representative.

The aggressive push towards AI-integrated televisions by both Samsung and LG underscores the intense competition within the global TV market and their strategic response to the growing challenge posed by cost-competitive Chinese manufacturers. By focusing on delivering premium viewing experiences enhanced by intelligent AI features, the South Korean giants aim to solidify their position at the forefront of the high-end television landscape and maintain their technological edge.
