ZURICH, Switzerland – South Korean technology innovator SoluM has announced a significant expansion of its exclusive partnership with Migros, Switzerland's largest retail conglomerate, in the Electronic Shelf Label (ESL) sector. This strengthened collaboration underscores SoluM's technological prowess and its established position as a leading provider of cutting-edge retail solutions in the European market.

Since 2020, SoluM has served as the sole supplier of ESLs to Migros, a testament to the Korean company's consistent quality, reliability, and responsive service. As Migros embarks on a technology refresh cycle across its extensive network, the Swiss retail giant has once again chosen SoluM as its primary partner, further cementing their long-term relationship.

Migros, a household name in Switzerland and often referred to as the nation's "national supermarket," operates as a key brand under the MGB Group, a prominent European retail powerhouse with approximately 2,000 locations worldwide. Beyond its widespread offline presence, the MGB Group also encompasses thriving online commerce platforms and the "Migrol" chain of gas stations, highlighting its diversified retail ecosystem.

The decision by the MGB Group to prioritize store digitalization as a core element of its sustainable management strategy has been a significant catalyst for the deepened partnership with SoluM. Migros recognizes the strategic advantages of ESL technology, particularly SoluM's offerings, in achieving its sustainability goals and enhancing operational efficiency.

A key factor in Migros' continued trust in SoluM lies in the superior quality and swift service provided by the Korean firm, consistently outperforming competitors. The current deployment will feature SoluM's advanced 'Newton Pro' ESLs, a premium model capable of displaying up to six vibrant colors. This sophisticated display technology not only ensures accurate and dynamic pricing information but also contributes to an enhanced in-store aesthetic, creating a more engaging shopping environment for consumers. The initial phase of this expanded rollout will see the 'Newton Pro' ESLs installed in 650 of Migros' strategically important stores across Switzerland.

The benefits of implementing low-power ESLs align perfectly with Migros' sustainability objectives. These energy-efficient displays significantly reduce energy consumption compared to traditional paper labels, leading to substantial cost savings and a smaller environmental footprint. Furthermore, the ability to update pricing and product information electronically in real-time eliminates the need for paper waste associated with manual label changes, contributing to a more eco-conscious operation. Migros also plans to extend the deployment of SoluM's ESLs to its "Migrol" gas station brand, further leveraging the technology's efficiency and dynamic information display capabilities across its diverse business units.

Looking ahead, SoluM and Migros are poised to explore further avenues of collaboration in the realm of advanced retail technologies. To this end, the two companies will host a strategic partnership event in Zurich, Switzerland, in June. This exclusive event will serve as a platform to discuss and showcase next-generation retail solutions beyond ESLs. SoluM is expected to present its full spectrum of innovative offerings, including large-format 32-inch Electronic Paper Display (EPD) solutions for impactful digital signage, comprehensive digital signage platforms for enhanced customer communication, and integrated store management platforms designed to streamline operations and optimize the customer experience.

The expanded partnership between SoluM and Migros represents a significant development in the European ESL market, highlighting the increasing adoption of digital solutions within the retail sector. As retailers globally seek to enhance efficiency, reduce operational costs, and improve the customer experience, ESL technology is playing an increasingly crucial role. SoluM's continued success in securing and expanding its partnership with a market leader like Migros underscores its position as a key player in this evolving landscape. The upcoming strategic partnership event in Zurich signals a commitment from both companies to continue driving innovation and shaping the future of retail through the integration of advanced technology solutions. This collaboration is expected to not only benefit Migros' operations and customer engagement but also further solidify SoluM's reputation as a leading provider of cutting-edge retail technology on the global stage.
