SEOUL – Samsung Electronics announced on February 13, 2026, that its Free Ad-supported Streaming TV (FAST) service, Samsung TV Plus, has officially surpassed 100 million Monthly Active Users (MAU) worldwide.

This milestone marks a significant leap from the 88 million users recorded in October 2024, adding 12 million new viewers in just 14 months. Industry analysts view this achievement as a clear indication that Samsung’s hardware leadership—held for 19 consecutive years in the global TV market—has successfully transitioned into a robust media platform ecosystem.

A New Era of "Cord-Cutting"
Samsung TV Plus offers a differentiated user experience by allowing instant viewing without the need for subscriptions, payments, or additional hardware. As the "cord-cutting" trend accelerates globally, Samsung’s strategy of providing a seamless, cost-free alternative to traditional cable has resonated with a wide audience.

The FAST model combines the intuitive nature of traditional TV (plug-and-play) with the diverse content options of OTT services, effectively capturing viewers who seek convenience without the fatigue of subscription management.

AI Integration and Content Diversification
A key driver behind this growth is Samsung’s integration of cutting-edge technology and premium content:

AI-Enhanced Viewing: Through its "All-in-One AI Integrated Channels," Samsung utilizes AI to upscale the picture and sound quality of classic content, such as popular dramas from the 2000s, into high-definition.
Diverse Library: The platform currently operates approximately 4,300 channels and 76,000 VOD titles across 30 countries.
Localized Content: In Korea, the service has introduced 24-hour news channels from major broadcasters like KBS and SBS. In the U.S., it has climbed to the ranks of top K-content providers by partnering with leading Korean media firms.
Creator Partnerships: The service has expanded its lifestyle offerings by featuring popular web-based creators specializing in travel, fitness, and entertainment.

Global Media Powerhouse
With 100 million monthly viewers, Samsung TV Plus is now evaluated to be on par with the world’s top three major broadcasting networks. It has evolved from a simple "value-added feature" of Samsung Smart TVs into a standalone global media giant.

"Samsung TV Plus has grown into a global media platform that is naturally consumed in the daily lives of viewers worldwide," said Choi Joon-hun, Head of the TV Plus Group at Samsung Electronics' Visual Display Business. "We will continue to strengthen our competitive edge in the FAST market through channel diversification and the acquisition of premium content."
Looking ahead, Samsung plans to further expand its role in the global media ecosystem by focusing on instant accessibility, AI-based content curation, and continuous updates to its content library.
