Asunción, Paraguay – Representatives from ten Peruvian companies, belonging to a trade mission organized by the Peruvian Association of Exporters (Adex), visited Paraguay to engage with local entrepreneurs and negotiate potential business ties and investment opportunities.

This visit is the culmination of efforts spanning over a year and was made possible through close collaboration between Adex and the Peruvian Embassy in Paraguay.

Dorian Zea, Director of Adex in Peru, expressed his satisfaction with the results of the first Peruvian business delegation sent to Paraguay, stating, "We wondered why Peruvian companies weren't looking at Paraguay, and instead of analyzing the reasons, we decided to focus on changing that reality. The objective of this mission is to introduce Peruvian companies to Paraguay, showcase a variety of our products, and attract direct investment to this country."

Zea emphasized Paraguay's political and economic stability as key factors driving their internationalization strategy, explaining, "Since arriving in Paraguay in 2016, I have been able to verify the advantages of this country. The continuity of stable policies generates confidence, and confidence is a matter of time. Paraguay offers favorable conditions for Peruvian investors to carry out business operations similar to those in their own country."

During the event, messages of gratitude for the support of Peruvian entrepreneurs residing in Paraguay were shared, along with well wishes for the participating companies' success. One attendee highlighted, "We are here to achieve great business results. This is an opportunity to grow together and open new paths in the regional market."

The dispatch of the Adex trade mission is considered a significant step towards economic integration between Peru and Paraguay, reflecting the growing interest of Peruvian companies in diversifying their markets and entering promising markets in South America.

Carlos Arévalo, Chargé d'Affaires of the Peruvian Embassy in Paraguay, stated, "The political relationship between Peru and Paraguay is exemplary. Now we hope that this mutual understanding is also reflected in trade between our nations."

Currently, the bilateral trade volume between the two countries is approximately $250 million annually, with Paraguay maintaining a trade surplus. However, Chargé d'Affaires Arévalo emphasized the significant growth potential based on the complementarity of both economies.

The mission included leading Peruvian companies from various sectors in which Peru is internationally recognized, such as agricultural exports, seafood, textiles, wine, spirits, and craft beer.

Chargé d'Affaires Arévalo highlighted Peru's emergence as a world leader in the export of blueberries, grapes, mangoes, and avocados, noting that these items had a negligible presence in Peruvian exports just two decades ago.

The objective of this mission is not only to increase the market share of Peruvian products in Paraguay but also to contribute to the entry of Paraguayan products into the Peruvian market. Chargé d'Affaires Arévalo stated, "This visit is just the first step. We would like to invite a Paraguayan mission so that products like Paraguay's excellent premium meat can also be enjoyed in Peru."

Chargé d'Affaires Arévalo emphasized Peru's competitive advantage in regional trade, backed by 21 free trade agreements and a modern logistics infrastructure. He particularly highlighted the recently inaugurated Port of Chancay, which is expected to revolutionize trade between South America and Asia.
