SEOUL, South Korea – Global lifestyle goods powerhouse LocknLock has solidified its commitment to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles by entering into a significant partnership with the esteemed non-governmental organization (NGO) Green Asia. The official signing ceremony for the '2025 Climate Crisis Response Business Agreement' took place on April 22nd at LocknLock's corporate headquarters situated in the heart of Seoul, marking a pivotal step towards addressing the escalating challenges of climate change and its devastating impact on vulnerable communities.

This strategic alliance will see LocknLock actively contribute to the vital ecological restoration efforts in Mongolia, a nation grappling with the severe consequences of climate change, most notably the rapid and relentless process of desertification. The initial focus of this collaborative endeavor will be the Biangakhangai Soum region, an area that has witnessed significant land degradation, directly impacting the livelihoods and well-being of its inhabitants. By spearheading the establishment of sustainable forests in this afflicted region, LocknLock and Green Asia aim to provide a stable foundation for climate refugees, empowering them to rebuild their lives and achieve long-term self-sufficiency.

As a tangible first step in this ambitious project, LocknLock has pledged to plant an initial tranche of 1,004 sea buckthorn saplings. The selection of sea buckthorn is particularly strategic due to the tree's resilience in arid and semi-arid environments, its ability to improve soil health, and its potential to provide nutritional and economic benefits to local communities through its berries and oil. Furthermore, demonstrating a unified commitment from within the company, LocknLock will dispatch a joint volunteer delegation comprising both labor and management representatives to the project site in Mongolia during May. These dedicated volunteers will actively engage in crucial on-the-ground activities, including providing direct assistance to climate refugees, participating in the meticulous planting and essential watering of the young saplings, and fostering meaningful cross-cultural exchange with the local Mongolian residents. This hands-on approach underscores LocknLock's dedication to not just providing financial support but also fostering genuine human connection and understanding.

The financial underpinning of this crucial reforestation initiative in the desertified Mongolian landscape carries a significant narrative of corporate social responsibility and civic engagement. A substantial portion of the funds allocated to this project has been diligently accumulated through LocknLock's ongoing philanthropic contributions to the renowned Beautiful Store, a South Korean non-profit organization operating a chain of charity shops. This unique funding mechanism exemplifies a powerful synergy between corporate generosity and public participation in driving impactful environmental protection endeavors. It highlights how consumer choices and corporate giving can converge to address pressing global challenges, creating a model for future collaborations.

Green Asia, the chosen partner for this vital undertaking, is a highly respected non-governmental organization with a proven track record in tackling complex global environmental issues. Their expertise spans a wide range of critical areas, including cutting-edge research into renewable energy technologies and the implementation of large-scale ecological restoration projects across Asia. Green Asia's commitment to effective and sustainable solutions has garnered international recognition, culminating in their prestigious receipt of the 'UN Land for Life Award for Best Practice' in 2014. This accolade underscores their deep understanding of land degradation issues and their successful implementation of strategies for ecological recovery. In this collaborative venture with LocknLock, Green Asia will lend its extensive technical expertise and on-the-ground experience to jointly execute the afforestation projects within the climate-vulnerable regions of Mongolia, ensuring the long-term success and sustainability of the initiative.

Oh Gi-chul, the Standing Director of Green Asia, articulated the profound significance of this partnership, stating, "This collaboration represents a genuine commitment to assisting climate refugees who have tragically lost their homes and livelihoods in their arduous journey towards self-reliance. Just as LocknLock has established itself as a leading and trusted brand in the realm of airtight containers, our shared aspiration is to cultivate a forest model in Mongolia that will not only revitalize the degraded soil but also effectively sequester harmful greenhouse gases, essentially locking them away and playing a crucial role in combating the relentless march of desertification." His statement underscores the holistic vision of the project, aiming for both ecological restoration and climate change mitigation.

Lee Young-hak, the Chief Executive Officer of LocknLock, expressed the company's profound sense of purpose in engaging in this critical environmental and humanitarian endeavor. "LocknLock is deeply honored to participate in this meaningful project aimed at preventing further desertification in Mongolia and, crucially, providing essential protection and support to the climate refugees who are most affected by this environmental crisis," remarked CEO Lee. He further emphasized LocknLock's overarching commitment to responsible business practices, stating, "Guided by our core philosophy of being a company that prioritizes both the environment and the well-being of people, we are dedicated to comprehensively strengthening our ESG management practices across all facets of our operations. Our ultimate goal is to actively contribute to building a sustainable and resilient future for our global community and our immediate neighbors."

Beyond this significant '2025 Climate Crisis Response Business Agreement' with Green Asia, LocknLock has also proactively launched and sustained its own impactful resource circulation campaign, aptly named 'Love for Planet.' This initiative underscores the company's broader commitment to promoting environmental sustainability through various channels. Furthermore, demonstrating its global reach in environmental stewardship, LocknLock has been actively engaged in a range of environmental protection activities in Vietnam. These initiatives include comprehensive environmental education programs tailored for students, aimed at fostering environmental awareness and responsible practices among the younger generation. Additionally, the company has undertaken tumbler donation campaigns in Vietnam, promoting the reduction of single-use plastic consumption and encouraging the adoption of reusable alternatives. These diverse and ongoing efforts highlight LocknLock's integrated approach to environmental responsibility, embedding sustainable practices across its operations and community engagement initiatives worldwide.

The partnership between LocknLock and Green Asia in addressing the critical issue of desertification in Mongolia serves as a compelling example of how corporate responsibility, environmental expertise, and community engagement can converge to create tangible and lasting positive impact in the face of the global climate crisis. This initiative not only aims to restore degraded ecosystems and provide crucial support to climate refugees but also sets a precedent for future collaborations between businesses and NGOs in tackling the multifaceted challenges of environmental sustainability.
