The sun-kissed shores of the Algarve are setting their sights on a new horizon: the thriving world of wine tourism. This week, Turismo do Algarve makes its highly anticipated debut at the FINE #WineTourism Marketplace in Valladolid, Spain, marking a significant step in the region's efforts to establish itself as a premier wine destination.

This strategic move comes at a time when wine tourism is experiencing explosive growth. With projections estimating the sector to reach a staggering €12.5 billion by 2026, the Algarve is keen to capitalize on this burgeoning market. The two-day event, held on March 5 and 6, provides a crucial platform for the Algarve to showcase its unique offerings to an international audience of wine tourism professionals.

Turismo do Algarve's presence at the marketplace is multifaceted. A dedicated space will serve as a hub for meetings and presentations, while attendees can delve into the region's rich culinary and viticultural heritage through informative guides and captivating wine tastings. The Algarve Wine Commission, a key player in promoting the Algarve Wine Tourism route, will be on hand to highlight the diversity and quality of the region's wines.

Beyond the marketplace, the Algarve is extending a warm invitation to international tour operators through a familiarization trip. Organized by Algarve Golden Terroir, the region's candidate for European City of Wine 2026, this immersive experience will allow participants to discover firsthand the Algarve's enchanting vineyards and unique wine tourism experiences.

André Gomes, president of the Algarve Tourism Board, emphasized the strategic importance of this initiative, stating, “Participating in the FINE #WineTourism Marketplace 2025 is an excellent opportunity to consolidate the Algarve as a reference destination for wine tourism, reinforcing its presence in the Spanish market and in other international markets.”

The Algarve's participation, driven by the INTERNATIONALIZAR + Algarve 3.0 program, underscores a collaborative effort between key regional stakeholders. By uniting the Algarve Wine Commission and Algarve Golden Terroir, the region is presenting a unified front, solidifying its position in the competitive wine tourism landscape.

As the Algarve embarks on this exciting chapter, it is clear that the region is poised to become a must-visit destination for wine enthusiasts seeking an authentic and unforgettable experience. With its stunning landscapes, exceptional wines, and warm hospitality, the Algarve is ready to pour its heart into the world of wine tourism.
