Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province Accelerates Fostering Innovative Companies in the Agro-Biofood Sector

The Jeonbuk Institute of Bio-Convergence Technology is taking steps to create an environment for the phased growth of promising innovative companies with technology-based in the rapidly growing agro-biofood industry. This initiative aims to nurture promising star companies in the agro-biofood sector, representing Jeonbuk, through comprehensive support throughout the entire growth cycle, and to realize structural changes and scale growth in the Jeonbuk agro-biofood industry.

Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province and the Jeonbuk Institute of Bio-Convergence Technology announced on the 23rd that they are recruiting companies to participate in the 'Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province Representative Company Development Support Project,' with application submission starting on the 17th. The Bio-Convergence Institute plans to select 20 companies, including domestic and foreign agro-biofood companies, and food-related distribution and ICT companies, through this project.

The 'Representative Company Development Support Project in the Agro-Bio Sector' aims to discover innovative promising companies in the agro-biofood industry and drive continuous growth by providing customized support at each stage. In particular, it plans to strengthen support so that technology-based excellent companies can lead structural changes in the local agro-biofood industry.

Eligible applicants include domestic and foreign agro-biofood manufacturing companies and food-related distribution and ICT companies, and applications can be submitted if the eligibility requirements are met by the application deadline. The final representative companies will be selected after document evaluation, on-site inspection, and presentation evaluation.

The direction for selecting target companies is to identify companies with competitiveness, such as excellent technology, innovation, and sustainable growth, and to have the capacity to lead the local agro-food industry with management capabilities and business performance.

The Bio-Convergence Institute, which is in charge of the project, plans to select a total of 20 companies in the fields of start-up, growth, leadership, and food-related distribution and ICT through this recruitment. Selected companies will receive various customized programs, such as technology capability enhancement and advancement support, business commercialization support, and growth strategy establishment support, for a minimum of 2 years and up to 7 years through evaluation upon meeting the performance requirements for each stage.

Choi Jae-yong, Director of the Agro-Bio Livestock Industry of Jeonbuk Self-Governing Province, said, "The representative company support project is playing an important role in driving the growth of Jeonbuk agro-biofood companies," and added, "We will actively support food companies to grow continuously."

Lee Eun-mi, Director of the Bio-Convergence Institute, said, "We have expanded the scope of recruitment to include food-related distribution and ICT companies to expand the food industry structure," and added, "We will focus the institute's capabilities so that Jeonbuk can leap to the center of Korea's agro-bio industry."

Details on applying for the representative company development project can be found in the announcement section of the Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province and Bio-Convergence Institute websites, and the application deadline is February 28th.
