Daejeon City announced it will extend COVID-19 vaccinations for high-risk groups until June 30. This measure aims to proactively prevent the spread of infectious diseases in the community, given recent increases in COVID-19 cases in some Asian countries like Hong Kong and Taiwan.

This vaccination drive targets: individuals aged 65 and older, immunocompromised individuals aged 6 months and older, and unvaccinated residents of infection-vulnerable facilities such as nursing homes, care facilities, and facilities for the disabled. Additionally, those who have completed their previous vaccinations and 90 days or more have passed are eligible for an additional dose.

As of May 30, there are 37 medical institutions in Daejeon City capable of providing COVID-19 vaccinations, and this number is expected to expand based on demand. Information on available vaccination sites can be found through local public health centers, the Daejeon City Call Center (☎042-120), or on the notice board of the Immunization Helper website.

The city also urged travelers returning from overseas to immediately inform airport quarantine officers if they experience any suspicious symptoms, to prevent the inflow of COVID-19. Furthermore, it emphasized strict adherence to personal hygiene rules in daily life, including handwashing, cough etiquette, and mask-wearing.

Jung Tae-young, Director General of Daejeon City's Sports and Health Bureau, stated, "While the current COVID-19 situation in our region is stably managed, we cannot rule out the possibility of a summer resurgence." He added, "Considering that it takes approximately four weeks for immunity to form after vaccination, we urge high-risk individuals who have not yet been vaccinated to complete their vaccinations as soon as possible."
