Three cities and provinces, Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam (Buul-Gyeong), have come together for regional development. The Buul-Gyeongcho Metropolitan Economic Alliance Promotion Team visited the National Assembly on the 1st and began a joint response to secure national funding for 2025.

The promotion team requested government support for a total of 15 projects, including 8 joint cooperation projects, including the construction of the Busan-Yangsan-Ulsan metropolitan railway, and 6 pending projects for each city and province. For this purpose, a budget of 1.4565 trillion won was requested, and an increase of 188.9 billion won compared to the existing budget was suggested.

The main business details are as follows.

Joint cooperation projects: Metropolitan tourism development in the southern region, construction of a comprehensive green algae response center, construction of the Busan New Port-Gimhae Expressway, construction of the Busan Nopo-Yangsan urban railway, construction of the Busan-Yangsan-Ulsan metropolitan railway, etc.

Busan City's pending projects: Establishment of an advanced regenerative medicine research base platform, rapid construction of Gadeokdo New Airport

Ulsan City pending projects: Canoe slalom center construction, marine leisure tourism base project in the southeastern region

Gyeongnam-do pending projects: Construction of a veterans resort in the southern region, construction of Geoje-Masan National Highway No. 5

The three cities and provinces of Seoul and Seoul plan to promote balanced regional development and further strengthen trans-regional cooperation by securing national funds. In particular, it is expected to create synergy effects in various fields such as expanding metropolitan transportation networks, building tourism infrastructure, and promoting eco-friendly businesses.

The promotion team met with members of the National Assembly's Special Committee on Budget and Accounts and emphasized the importance of the Buul-Gyeong region and explained the necessity of each project. The goal is to elicit active support from the National Assembly through this.

Starting with securing national funds, the three cities and provinces of Seoul and Seoul plan to continue their efforts for regional development through continuous communication and cooperation.

This effort by Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam to secure national funds is evaluated as an important attempt for balanced regional development. If projects are promoted smoothly through active support from the National Assembly, it is expected that Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam region will be able to become a more developed and competitive region.
