Cheonan City Accelerates Creation of Synergy Between Gastronomy and Tourism

Cheonan City is boosting expectations for local economic revitalization by producing and distributing the 'Delicious Trip, Cheonan' restaurant map, which allows visitors to grasp local restaurants and tourist attractions at a glance. According to Cheonan City's announcement on May 26, this map contains detailed information on 68 carefully selected restaurants and 23 famous bakeries in Cheonan, which is expected to provide practical help to visitors.

This restaurant map goes beyond simple restaurant guidance; it's designed to allow tourists visiting Cheonan to simultaneously enjoy diverse local charms along with their culinary experiences. In particular, it includes information on major tourist attractions such as the Cheonan 8 Scenic Spots and local representative festivals, enabling visitors to plan their trips efficiently using the map.

Gastronomic City Cheonan: 68 Restaurants and 23 Bakeries Carefully Selected

The 'Delicious Trip, Cheonan' restaurant map introduces 68 carefully selected restaurants and 23 bakeries chosen by Cheonan City itself. These establishments represent Cheonan's culinary culture, and the map provides detailed information on each establishment's location, signature dishes, and signature breads.

Cheonan has long developed various local dishes based on its abundant food ingredients. In particular, Byeongcheon Sundae and Hodu Ggwaja (walnut cakes) have gained national recognition as representative foods of Cheonan. Byeongcheon Sundae originates from Byeongcheon-myeon, where the Aunae Market was famous, and is known for its uniquely simple yet deep flavor. Made by stuffing pig intestines with blood, vegetables, and glass noodles, Byeongcheon Sundae, along with Sundaegukbap (sundae soup), is considered a representative delicacy of Cheonan. In addition, Cheonan boasts numerous Korean set meal restaurants and fusion restaurants utilizing local specialties, and recently, trendy cafes and restaurants have continuously emerged, primarily among the younger generation, strengthening its reputation as a gastronomic city.

Furthermore, Cheonan is a city with a highly developed bread culture, even earning the nickname 'City of Bread.' As the home of Hodu Ggwaja, Cheonan has countless Hodu Ggwaja specialty stores, as well as unique bakery cafes. The information on the 23 bakeries is not limited to Hodu Ggwaja but also introduces places selling various types of bread and desserts, expanding choices for visitors.

Improved Accessibility with Divided Notation for Dongnam-gu and Seobuk-gu

The map divides Cheonan into Dongnam-gu and Seobuk-gu, helping visitors easily grasp restaurant locations and plan efficient routes. This is a thoughtful consideration of Cheonan's geographical characteristics and is expected to provide great convenience, especially for tourists traveling by car. Dongnam-gu has many historic restaurants where visitors can feel Cheonan's history and tradition, while Seobuk-gu, with new city development, has developed a youthful sensibility with trendy restaurants and franchises, each offering different attractions.

Maximizing Synergy by Linking with 'Bread Pilgrimage Ppangppang Day'

Cheonan City plans to distribute this restaurant map to teams participating in the 'Bread Pilgrimage Ppangppang Day,' which will be held from June 14 to 15. The 'Bread Pilgrimage Ppangppang Day' is a representative festival aimed at promoting Cheonan's bread culture and revitalizing the local economy, attracting many visitors from all over the country to Cheonan. By providing these visitors with the restaurant map, the city aims to induce them to visit not only bakeries but also nearby restaurants and tourist attractions such as the Cheonan 8 Scenic Spots, maximizing the synergy between gastronomy and tourism.

Includes Information on Cheonan 8 Scenic Spots and Local Representative Festivals

The restaurant map also includes information on major tourist attractions, including the Cheonan 8 Scenic Spots, and local representative festivals. The Cheonan 8 Scenic Spots refer to the eight beautiful landscapes representing Cheonan, consisting of: Independence Hall, Yu Gwan-sun Martyrs' Historic Site, Cheonan Samgeori Park, Gwangdeoksan Mountain, Asan Bay Embankment (Sapgyoho), Seonggeosan Wireseong Fortress, Taejosan Gakwonsa Temple, and National Center for Youth Activities. Detailed information such as the characteristics and attractions of each tourist spot, as well as festival periods, are provided to help visitors experience Cheonan's diverse charms.

Plans to Link with Large-Scale Events such as the 2025 Cheonan K-Culture Expo and the 77th Chungcheongnam-do Citizens' Sports Festival

A Cheonan City official announced that they plan to actively distribute the restaurant map to visitors attending Cheonan's representative festivals and events, such as the '2025 Cheonan K-Culture Expo' and the '77th Chungcheongnam-do Citizens' Sports Festival,' scheduled for 2025. It is expected that utilizing the restaurant map in conjunction with such large-scale events will significantly contribute to local economic revitalization. The analysis suggests that visitors experiencing Cheonan's tastes and sights simultaneously will promote local consumption, which, in turn, will lead to increased sales for small businesses, creating a virtuous cycle in the local economy.

The creation of this restaurant map is part of Cheonan City's efforts to strengthen its regional brand through gastronomic tourism and develop sustainable tourism content. It is hoped that the 'Delicious Trip, Cheonan' map will provide an enjoyable and rich experience for all who visit Cheonan, and furthermore, contribute practically to Cheonan's economic revitalization.
