The Pyeongtaek Cultural Foundation is significantly expanding cultural and artistic opportunities for Pyeongtaek citizens and contributing to the revitalization of the local art ecosystem by fully disclosing its collection of works by visual artists with ties to the region through an online platform. This online platform is designed to allow citizens to appreciate excellent art from Pyeongtaek without spatiotemporal restrictions, and it is expected to serve as an important cornerstone for the establishment of the Pyeongtaek Municipal Art Museum in the long term.

Since 2022, the Pyeongtaek Cultural Foundation has been steadily collecting works by visual artists based in Pyeongtaek. The foundation currently holds 47 works created by 38 artists, and these works play an important role in accumulating local visual art assets and promoting a virtuous cycle in the cultural and artistic ecosystem. Until now, access to the collection was limited to specific exhibitions, restricting public access. However, the opening of this online platform has removed these restrictions.

A New Horizon for Art Enjoyment Through the Online Platform pccfgallery.kr

The foundation's newly established online platform (http://pccfgallery.kr) is richly composed of an online exhibition hall, an online catalog, and the "Owning Gallery E-BOOK." In the online exhibition hall, visitors can appreciate the collection through a virtual reality experience, as if walking through an actual museum. The online catalog provides detailed information about each artist and work, aiding the viewer's understanding. Furthermore, the "Owning Gallery E-BOOK" allows for in-depth exploration of the collection. With just an internet-connected device such as a PC or smartphone, anyone can experience Pyeongtaek's art anytime, anywhere.

Lee Sang-gyun, CEO of the Pyeongtaek Cultural Foundation, stated, "The establishment of this online platform allows us to widely promote Pyeongtaek's outstanding visual arts and artists to external organizations and the public." He added, "Through continuous accumulation of visual art assets and archiving work, we will lay a solid foundation for the establishment of the Pyeongtaek Municipal Art Museum." In this way, the foundation is not just simply displaying works, but is focusing on systematically recording and preserving the history and value of local art to pass it on to future generations.

Promoting the 2025 Art Collection Purchase Contest and Accelerating Art Museum Construction

The Pyeongtaek Cultural Foundation will also promote the "2025 Art Collection Purchase Project Contest" this year to support local artists. This project, announced on May 27, 2025, aims to purchase works by visual artists who reside or have studios in Pyeongtaek, or have ties to Pyeongtaek through birth or school graduation. This year, the budget for art purchases has been increased compared to last year, providing opportunities to more works and artists. Detailed information about the contest can be found on the Pyeongtaek Cultural Foundation website (https://www.pccf.or.kr/). This will be an important support measure to provide a stable creative environment for local artists and encourage their artistic activities.

The foundation's efforts are also closely linked to the long-term goal of establishing the Pyeongtaek Municipal Art Museum. The need to expand cultural and artistic facilities has been consistently raised in Pyeongtaek in response to the rapidly changing cultural environment and increasing population. As part of this, the establishment of the Pyeongtaek Municipal Art Museum is expected to play a key role in enhancing citizens' access to culture and art and establishing the city's cultural identity. In fact, various efforts are underway, including basic research seminars and advisory committee operations related to the art museum's construction, which is expected to be a significant turning point in elevating Pyeongtaek's cultural status in the future.

The Pyeongtaek Cultural Foundation's online collection platform will re-examine the value of local art and provide new cultural experiences to citizens, while also serving as an important bridgehead contributing to Pyeongtaek's emergence as a cultural and artistic hub city.
