Daejeon, South Korea – Daejeon City, led by Mayor Lee Jang-woo, has recently recognized 12 companies for their exceptional efforts in creating a women-friendly workplace and promoting work-life balance. The city held a ceremony on November 26th to award these companies with plaques and to celebrate their commitment to gender equality.

The selection process, overseen by the Daejeon Women's New Start Center, involved rigorous on-site inspections and a thorough review by a panel of experts. The goal was to identify and encourage companies that actively promote gender equality and improve working conditions for women.

To qualify for the recognition, companies needed to have at least 30 employees, with 20% or more being women, or have at least 20 female employees and implement policies that promote gender equality and work-life balance. Out of 23 applicants, 12 companies were ultimately selected.

The chosen companies were highly commended for their efforts in providing equal employment and promotion opportunities, supporting employee development, addressing grievances, offering parental leave and caregiving leave, and implementing flexible work arrangements.

The 12 companies recognized this year include:

Daejeon Metropolitan City First Nursing Home for the Elderly of the Bright Mind Medical Foundation
Neo Well-being Co., Ltd.
Central Medical Foundation C.M.I
Samkwang Medical Foundation Central Testing Center
BNB Company
BS Medical Foundation Brain Nursing Hospital
Jideoksa Medical Foundation Yangnyeong Nursing Hospital
Daejeon Korean Hospital
Wise Technology Co., Ltd.
J One Global Co., Ltd.
Unicos Co., Ltd.
KM Loss Adjusters, Inc. Central Region Review Division

To further strengthen the role of these women-friendly companies, Daejeon City plans to provide in-house training instructors, support improvements in the corporate environment, and promote their achievements. By doing so, the city aims to prevent women from leaving the workforce and contribute to addressing the low birthrate issue.

"Creating a women-friendly work environment is essential for overcoming the low birthrate and expanding women's participation in society," said Jang Ho-jong, Deputy Mayor of Daejeon City's Economic Science Division. "We hope that the women-friendly companies selected this time will have a positive impact on the local community."

This initiative by Daejeon City serves as a commendable example of promoting gender equality in the workplace and fostering a more inclusive society. By recognizing and supporting companies that prioritize the well-being of their female employees, the city is taking significant steps towards achieving a more balanced and equitable future.
