The Changwon LG Sakers are back on a winning streak after defeating the Busan KCC Egis 83-78 on the road at Sajik Gymnasium in Busan on February 8, 2025.
With this win, the LG Sakers recorded their second consecutive victory and maintained their third place ranking in the league (23 wins and 14 losses), following the Seoul SK Knights and Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus. The two teams faced each other at Changwon Gymnasium on February 6th and met again in Busan two days later.
The game was a close contest throughout.
The LG Sakers led 26-22 in the first quarter, but allowed a reversal in the second quarter and finished the first half 46-49. In the third quarter, the LG Sakers scored 19 points and closed the gap to 65-67. In the fourth quarter, the KCC Egis continued to pull away, and the LG Sakers continued to chase.
The LG Sakers tied the game at 75-75 with a three-point shot by Carl Tamayo, but then allowed a three-pointer to Heo Ung of the KCC Egis and fell behind again. However, the LG Sakers tied the game again with a three-point shot by Jung In-duk.
The LG Sakers seized the momentum and took the lead 80-78 with 49 seconds remaining in the game with a score by Assem Marei.
With 16 seconds left, Heo Il-young made a three-point shot to seal the victory. Assem Marei led the LG Sakers to victory with 17 points, 14 rebounds and 8 assists.
Heo Il-young contributed to the team's victory with three crucial three-point shots, including the game-winner, scoring 9 points. Carl Tamayo (12 points, 4 rebounds) and Jeon Seong-hyeon (12 points, 2 rebounds) also played well.
Meanwhile, the LG Sakers will face the league-leading SK Knights at Jamsil Student Gymnasium on February 12th at 7 p.m. The LG Sakers' eight-game winning streak was snapped by the SK Knights on February 3rd.
