Sending a strong message to Seoul City and the government... High desire for regional development

More than 100,000 residents participated in the signature campaign held by Seoul's Seongbuk-gu to re-promote the Gangbuk Transverse Light Rail Transit Line, showing great enthusiasm. In Seongbuk-gu, the signature campaign that started on the 18th of last month achieved its goal faster than expected, confirming the strong desire of local residents for the Gangbuk Crossing Line.

The Gangbuk Crossing Line is a light rail project that connects Cheongnyangni Station in Dongdaemun-gu to Jeongneung/Gileum Station in Seongbuk-gu, Hongje Station in Seodaemun-gu, Digital Media City Station in Mapo-gu, and Mokdong Station in Yangcheon-gu. When this line is built, a new transportation network connecting the northeast, northwest, and southwest regions of Seoul will be established, making inter-regional travel more convenient, and is expected to greatly contribute to revitalizing the local economy.

In particular, it is expected to provide new opportunities for local development while relieving transportation difficulties for Seongbuk-gu residents who had difficulty using public transportation.

Seongbuk-gu formed a task force on the 15th of last month to re-promote the Gangbuk Crossing Line, and began collecting signatures on the 18th. Residents showed strong support by signing petitions in various places, including Seongbuk-gu Office, community centers, and apartment complexes. On the 26th of last month, more than 2,000 people, including residents, college students, and religious groups, attended the 'Resolution Meeting for the Rapid Re-promotion of the Gangbuk Crossing Line' held at the Jeongneung-dong Transportation Plaza, emphasizing the need for the construction of the Gangbuk Crossing Line.

Seongbuk-gu plans to hold a meeting with the mayor of Seoul based on the results of this signature campaign and actively convey residents' aspirations for the re-promotion of the Gangbuk Trans-Rectal Line. In addition, we plan to do our best to ensure that the Gangbuk Crossing Line project can be promoted as soon as possible by requesting the government to re-promote the preliminary feasibility study.

Seongbuk-gu Mayor Lee Seung-ro said, “The Gangbuk Crossing Line is a long-awaited project of Seongbuk-gu and an essential project for the balanced development of Seoul,” and added, “Based on the passionate passion of the residents, we will do our best to build the Gangbuk Crossing Line.”

Despite the strong demands of Seongbuk-gu residents, the Gangbuk Crossing Line project is experiencing difficulties as it failed the preliminary feasibility study. However, through this signature campaign, the aspirations of local residents have been confirmed once again, and this will send a strong message to the city of Seoul and the government. We hope that the Gangbuk Trans-Run Line project will be re-promoted as soon as possible with the added efforts of Seongbuk-gu and other related organizations.
