SEJONG — The city of Sejong hosted the “2026 Small Business Owners' Day” event on October 30 at the Hangeul Plaza in Jongchon-dong, providing a meaningful platform for communication and unity among local merchants and residents.

Organized by the Sejong Federation of Micro Enterprises (Chairman Yook In-gyu), the event drew approximately 500 attendees, including key figures such as Sejong Mayor Cho Sang-ho, City Council Chairman Ahn Shin-il, Superintendent of Education Kang Mi-ae, and National Assembly members Kim Jong-min and Kang Jun-hyeon.

The celebration featured an award ceremony honoring 14 local merchants who contributed significantly to revitalizing the regional economy. Attendees also enjoyed celebratory performances, food stalls, and flea market booths, fostering a lively atmosphere of community bonding.

A notable highlight of the gathering was a unified demonstration. Participants held up picket signs calling for the passage of the "Special Act on the Administrative Capital" within the year, demonstrating strong collective support for completing Sejong’s status as Korea’s administrative capital.

“Small business owners are the root of our local economy and a reliable pillar of daily life for our citizens,” said Mayor Cho Sang-ho. “We will make concerted efforts to ensure that personnel from the central government agencies relocating to Sejong next year become loyal regular customers of our local shops.”

Meanwhile, as part of the event's promotional campaign, the Federation of Micro Enterprises—with sponsorship from the Sejong Economy and Job Promotion Agency—distributed a 30,000-won Onnuri gift certificate to citizens who spent 100,000 won or more at local neighborhood shops from October 26 to 30, injecting fresh vitality into commercial districts.
